Push Buttons
Push Buttons, Switches & Touch Plates
Push buttons and switches are the manual side of door control. They let someone release a lock on the way out, give a receptionist a remote release, or let authorized staff override a door with a key. On maglocked egress doors they are also a code requirement, which is why the choice between a simple momentary button and a timed emergency exit button matters.
Emergency exit buttons such as the EEB2 and narrow stile EEB3N have a built-in 30 second timer, so one press releases the lock long enough to pass through without an external timer, the function codes call for as the manual release beside an access-controlled egress door. General-purpose PB series push buttons release a lock only while pressed, or for longer when paired with a timer, and come in square and round styles with interchangeable red, green, and accessibility lenses; illumination kits such as the PB2-LK add a light to compatible buttons. SP-1 touch sense plates have no moving parts, releasing on touch, and wave switches trigger without contact at all. For keyed control, mortise keyswitches such as the MKA2 accept a standard mortise cylinder, while tubular keyswitches such as the KP1 suit lighter-duty panels.
