Push Button & Egress Devices

Exit Buttons, Keyswitches & Egress Devices

Every electrically locked door needs a way out, and on a maglocked door that way out is electrical. The devices here release the lock for people leaving: motion sensors that detect someone approaching, push buttons and touch plates they press, bars and handles on the door itself, and keyswitches that give authorized staff override control. Choosing the right combination is what keeps an access-controlled door both secure and code compliant.

Life safety codes generally require two independent release methods on access-controlled egress doors: a sensor on the egress side, commonly a passive infrared unit such as the XMS, and a manual push-to-exit button near the door that releases the lock for at least 30 seconds regardless of the access control system. The EEB2 emergency exit button meets that need with a built-in 30 second timer and field-selectable 12 or 24 VDC operation. Beyond those basics, PB push buttons and SP-1 touch plates serve general request-to-exit use, touch sense and electromechanical bars release the lock from the door itself on magnetically locked, non-fire-rated doors, wave switches offer touchless activation, and mortise keyswitches such as the MKA2 provide keyed control for lock override and alarm arming.
