Egress Bars, Handles & Exit Sensors

Egress devices release a Magnalock as someone leaves, either by sensing them approach or by responding when they push on the door. Choosing among them comes down to how the door is used and what the code requires: an exit sensor gives hands-free release, while a bar or handle on the door gives people the familiar push-to-exit motion they expect.

The XMS is a passive infrared exit motion sensor built specifically to release locks, with an adjustable detector face to aim the pattern at the door and a relay output that can shunt the door alarm, operating on 12 or 24 VDC. On the door itself, touch sense bars such as the TSB-3CL release the lock when touched, even through light gloves or clothing, electromechanical bars such as the EMB-CL release through a mechanical push that meets no-special-knowledge egress expectations and can initiate a delayed egress timer, and dual sense bars combine both methods in one device. Handles provide the same functions in a pull or push form. These bars and handles are intended for magnetically locked, non-fire-rated doors, and on egress doors they work alongside the manual emergency release codes require.
