Egress Bars & Handles

Touch Sense & Electromechanical Exit Bars

An exit bar on a maglocked door gives people the motion they already expect from a panic device, while the bar itself sends the release signal to the lock. It is often the most intuitive egress solution on glass storefronts and interior access-controlled doors, and it removes the confusion of searching for a wall button next to the door.

Three technologies are available. Touch sense bars, the TSB series, release the lock the moment someone touches the bar, even through light gloves or clothing, with no moving parts; the TSB-3CL is a 36 inch clear anodized bar, black TSB-BK models come in 36 and 42 inch lengths, TSB-BCA end caps and the TSB-TDM through-door mounting kit complete the installation on thicker doors. Electromechanical bars such as the EMB-CL release through a mechanical push, can operate outdoors with optional waterproof switches, and can initiate a delayed egress timer. Dual sense bars such as the DSB-BK combine a mechanical push with touch sensing, and illuminated versions add a lit sign. Touch sense and electromechanical handles provide the same functions in handle form. All are intended for magnetically locked, non-fire-rated doors.
