The HES 9500 Series is a 3 hour fire-rated, surface mounted electric strike for rim exit devices with up to a 3/4" Pullman latch. Every component is encased in a 3/4" thick stainless steel housing that mounts on the face of the frame - no cutting required: place the strike on the frame surface, align it with the exit latchbolt, and install. The base is separate from the decorative cover, making adjustments easy, and the strike complies with NFPA 80-07 guidelines for retrofit into fire-rated frames.
The 9500 exceeds ANSI/BHMA A156.31 Grade 1 standards with 1,500 lbs of static strength, 70 ft-lbs of dynamic impact resistance, and 1,000,000 tested cycles, and is rated for outdoor use (UL 1034). Built-in horizontal adjustability aligns the keeper to the latch, and the non-handed body installs on metal or wood frames (wood screws not included).
Operation is field selectable between fail-secure and fail-safe - the fire rating applies in fail-secure mode only - and between 12 or 24 VDC (500 mA / 250 mA, continuous duty). Optional LBM latchbolt monitor or LBSM latchbolt strike monitor reports door status (for example 9500-630-LBM), and every 9500 carries the SecuriCare 5 year no-fault warranty, extended to 10 years with the SMART Pac III.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Which exit devices does the 9500 work with?
- Rim exit devices with up to a 3/4" Pullman latch - no faceplate kits needed.
- Is it fire rated?
- Yes - UL 10C, 3 hour fire rated in fail-secure mode only, and NFPA 80-07 compliant for retrofit into existing fire-rated frames. Selecting fail-safe voids the fire rating on that opening.
- How does it differ from the HES 9400?
- The 9400 is the slimmer non-fire-rated sibling for 1/2" Pullman latches; the 9500 adds the 3 hour fire rating and takes 3/4" latches.
- Does installation require cutting the frame?
- No - the strike surface mounts on the frame face, and the separate base and cover make alignment adjustments easy.
- What power does it require?
- 12 or 24 VDC, field selectable, drawing 500 mA / 250 mA on continuous duty. For AC power sources, add the optional 2001M bridge rectifier.
- Can it report door status?
- Yes - order with the LBM latchbolt monitor or LBSM latchbolt strike monitor option.
- Can it be installed outdoors?
- Yes - UL 1034 listed and suitable for outdoor use.
- What warranty does it carry?
- The SecuriCare 5 year no-fault warranty, extended to 10 years with the SMART Pac III power controller.
