The HES SMB is a surface mounting box for the HES 7000 Series electric strike with the 783S or 789S rim exit faceplate options. It lets the strike surface-mount on the frame or door face with no cutting, bringing electric strike release to openings where a mortised installation is impossible.
The classic application is a pair of doors without a center mullion: the SMB mounts to the inactive leaf, and the rim exit device on the active leaf latches its Pullman bolt into the strike. The full opening width stays clear for moving equipment and furniture - no fixed mullion, no vertical rod device on each leaf. System performance comes from the strike inside: a 7000 with the rim exit faceplates delivers 1,000 lbs static strength and 50 ft-lbs dynamic impact (ANSI/BHMA Grade 2).
