Product Overview

Dual Preload Solution for Preloaded Doors

The HES 7000 Series Electric Strike provides a dual solution to address doors with pressure or preload. Its in-frame horizontal adjustment allows installers to easily align the latch opening post-installation, ensuring a perfect fit. Additionally, a unique preload release mechanism enables smooth unlocking even under door pressure (up to 15 lbs) caused by HVAC air pressure, weather changes, or tight weatherstripping. This means the 7000 series strike will operate reliably year-round on doors that might bind a standard electric strike.

Versatile Compatibility and Field Flexibility

Engineered as a universal electric strike, the HES 7000 works with virtually all standard cylindrical locksets (up to 5/8" latchbolt throw) and most rim exit devices (up to 3/4" latchbolt throw). It supports dual voltage input of 12 or 24 VDC (continuous duty) for compatibility with common power supplies. The strike can be easily switched between fail-secure (power-to-unlock) and fail-safe (power-to-lock) modes in the field, allowing flexibility for security or life-safety requirements. An optional Latchbolt Monitor (LBM) sensor is available to provide door status output to access control systems. The 7000’s non-handed design and compact form factor make it simple to install on left- or right-hand doors without frame modifications.

High Strength, Durable Build for Security

This electric strike features tamper-resistant, stainless steel construction built to withstand heavy use. In Grade 1 configurations, it delivers an impressive 1,500 lb static holding force and resists 70 ft-lbs of dynamic impact, ensuring high security locking. Even the Grade 2 setup provides a strong 1,000 lb hold and 50 ft-lb impact resistance. The mechanism is endurance-tested to over 1,000,000 cycles for long-term reliability. It’s fully certified, including UL 1034 burglary-resistant listing and UL 294 safety compliance for access control use. With its high strength and precision engineering, the 7000 Series strike maintains secure door locking in demanding commercial environments while minimizing wear.

Models and Options for Any Installation

The 7000 Series is offered in multiple variants to suit different needs. The base 7000 model is a universal strike body (order faceplate kits separately), while the 7000C Complete Pac includes the strike plus two faceplate adapters (791 and 792) in one convenient kit. The Complete Pac comes in 630 Satin Stainless Steel finish and covers the most common installations for cylindrical locks (including a standard 4-7/8” strike plate and a longer 7-15/16” plate). For specialty applications, additional faceplate kits are available – for example, 783S, 786S, 789S plates accommodate various rim exit devices and frame types. An LBM (Latchbolt Monitor) option can be specified on any model (e.g. 7000C-630-LBM) to provide a monitored output. The HES 7000 Series is available in a range of finishes to match existing door hardware (brass, bronze, stainless, black), and every unit is backed by HES’s SecuriCare 5-year no-fault warranty (extendable to 10 years with the addition of a HES SMART Pac III surge protector). This modular approach ensures you can select the right configuration – and have all the parts you need – for a smooth, high-performance installation.
Key Features & Benefits
  • Preload-capable design: Functions reliably even with up to 15 lbs of preload (door pressure) in fail-secure mode, ensuring the strike releases even if a door is pressing on the latch.
  • In-frame horizontal adjustment: This allows you to adjust the latch pocket's position of the strike after installation to ensure the strike's proper alignment with the latchbolt of the lock.
  • Dual voltage input: Accepts 12 VDC or 24 VDC power with no changes to the product, allowing the strike to work with common power supplies and easier wiring with plug-in connectors included.
  • Field-selectable fail safe/fail secure: Easily configurable to either fail-safe (unlocked when unpowered) or fail-secure (locked when unpowered) operation as needed.
  • Wide lock compatibility: The strike works with cylindrical lock latch bolts with up to 5/8" throw and rim exit device latch bolts with up to a 3/4" throw, allowing compatibility with a broad range of door hardware applications with one strike body.
  • High holding force: Rugged, all-metal construction delivers a static holding strength of 1,500 lbs and an impact resistance of 70 ft-lbs (ANSI/BHMA Grade 1) for positive door locking.
  • Million-cycle reliability: Tested to over 1,000,000 open/close cycles without failure to ensure dependability in highly-trafficked entrance ways.
  • Non-handed and compact: Completely non-handed design fits left- or right-hand doors and tight frame cutouts, with a slim 1-11/16” strike body depth for easy installation.
  • Quick-connect wiring: Features an internally mounted solenoid and plug-in pigtail connectors for fast, error-free electrical hookup to access control or power sources.
  • Optional monitoring: Latchbolt monitor (LBM) option available to detect latch engagement. The built-in switch provides a signal when the door is closed and latched, enhancing security system integration.
  • Complete Pac available: Order 7000C-630 to get the strike plus two faceplates (791 & 792) in one package – ideal for new installations. (Complete Pac comes in Satin Stainless Steel finish only).
  • No-fault warranty: Backed by a 5-year no-questions-asked warranty, which is extendable to 10 years if used with the HES 2005M3 SMART Pac III power accessory.
