The HES 7000 Series is the dual preload solution among electric strikes: in-frame horizontal adjustment aligns the strike opening to the latchbolt after installation, and a preload release function unlocks smoothly under up to 15 lbs of door pressure (fail-secure mode) from HVAC air pressure, weather changes, warped doors, or tight weatherstripping that binds standard strikes. One body covers cylindrical locksets up to 5/8" latchbolt throw and rim exit devices up to a 3/4" Pullman latch.
Strength follows the faceplate: with the 791/792 cylindrical faceplates the strike delivers 1,500 lbs static and 70 ft-lbs dynamic (ANSI/BHMA Grade 1); with the 783S/786S/789S rim exit faceplates, 1,000 lbs and 50 ft-lbs (Grade 2). The stainless steel, tamper-resistant, non-handed body is endurance tested to 1,000,000 cycles, field selectable between fail-secure and fail-safe, and runs on 12 or 24 VDC continuous duty with an internally mounted solenoid and plug-in connector.
Order the universal strike body with a faceplate kit for metal, wood, or aluminum frames, or the 7000C Complete Pac bundling the 791 and 792 faceplates (630 finish only). An optional LBM latchbolt monitor reports latch status to access control, and every 7000 carries the SecuriCare 5 year no-fault warranty, extended to 10 years with the SMART Pac III power controller.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What does preload capability mean?
- When a door presses on the latch - from HVAC pressure, weather, warping, or weatherstripping - a standard strike can bind. The 7000 releases smoothly under up to 15 lbs of preload, in fail-secure mode.
- Does it work with exit devices?
- Yes - with the 783S/786S/789S faceplates it fits rim exit devices with up to a 3/4" Pullman latch from American Device, Arrow, Dor-O-Matic, Jackson, Monarch, Precision, Sargent, Von Duprin, and ASSA ABLOY ACCENTRA.
- How strong is it?
- 1,500 lbs static / 70 ft-lbs with the 791/792 cylindrical faceplates (Grade 1); 1,000 lbs / 50 ft-lbs with the rim exit faceplates (Grade 2).
- Can I choose fail-safe or fail-secure?
- Yes - field selectable. Note the preload release works in fail-secure mode.
- What power does it require?
- 12 or 24 VDC continuous duty (450 mA / 250 mA). For AC power, add the optional 2001M plug-in bridge rectifier.
- Can it be installed outdoors?
- No - the 7000 carries no outdoor rating and is recommended for indoor openings.
- What is included in the 7000C Complete Pac?
- The strike plus the 791 and 792 cylindrical faceplates in one box, in 630 finish.
- What warranty does it carry?
- The SecuriCare 5 year no-fault warranty, extended to 10 years with the SMART Pac III power controller.
