The HES 8500 Series is the fire-rated, concealed electric strike for mortise locksets without a deadbolt, accommodating latchbolts up to 3/4" throw. It installs with little or no modification to the frame - no cutting to the face: remove the existing strike plate and the dust box, and install into the same opening (dust box removal applies to the standard ANSI/BHMA A156.115 prep). The strike conceals completely within the frame, and it complies with NFPA 80-07 guidelines for retrofit into fire-rated frames.
Its keeper pin locking design lets the 8500 exceed Grade 1 ratings: 1,500 lbs static strength, 70 ft-lbs dynamic impact, and 1,000,000 tested cycles in tamper-resistant stainless steel. It is UL 10C fire rated for up to 3 hours in fail-secure mode, outdoor rated (UL 1034), field selectable between fail-secure and fail-safe, and non-handed, with full pocket shims for horizontal adjustment in metal or wood frames.
It runs on dual voltage 12/24 VDC/VAC (240 mA / 120 mA; DC continuous duty, AC intermittent) with a PoE-friendly draw and plug-in connector. Four lock-specific faceplate option kits (sold separately) adapt one strike body to most major mortise locksets - each kit includes a standard faceplate plus a wider-pocket faceplate for sagging doors. Optional LBM or LBSM monitoring reports latch status (for example 8500-630-LBM), backed by the SecuriCare 5 year no-fault warranty - 10 years with the SMART Pac III.
