Fire-Rated Concealed Electric Strike for Cylindrical Locks

The HES 8300 series is a compact electric strike that is fire rated, with high security that has been designed for a surface mounted retrofit installation onto a standard door frame. The 8300 series innovation allows for a concealed installation of cylindrical locksets without the need for any cutting or grinding of the frame. This system is able to replace the ANSI strike plate without needing to cut or grind the top of the ANSI strike plate frame. To install the 8300 it is as simple as aligning the 8300's vertical alignment to the centerline of the latchbolt so that it can be centred into the existing ANSI strike plate cutout. The 8300 has a lower profile than our competitors asking for constrained space to be accepted on exterior and interior doors, while the inline keeper pin locking indicates a strength that is well beyond that of the door and frame ratings. 8300 electric strike is UL 10C fire rated 3 hr. and complies with NFPA 80 when retrofitted into a fire rated frame. The 8300 installs easily into a fire rated frame to accept latchbolts up to 5/8” throw without compromising the integrity of the fire door.

Engineered to meet Grade 1 standards, the HES 8300 strike can withstand significant force. It has been proven to hold a static load of 1,500 lb and to absorb 70 ft-lbs of dynamic impact without failure. This level of holding strength discourages forced entry and provides security while remaining in high traffic situations. The mechanism has been endurance tested with over 1,000,000 cycles for reliable long-term operation. The 8300 Series is certified to the ANSI/BHMA A156.31 Grade 1 performance criteria, which is the highest performance criteria for electric strikes. For additional security, it is UL 1034 burglary resistant listed for outdoor use.

Easy Installation and Versatile Operation

Engineered for hassle-free setup, the 8300 strike fits into a standard 4-7/8” ANSI door prep with no frame modifications needed. An adjustable mounting tab allows fine-tuning up or down to correct door sag or misalignment, ensuring the latchbolt slides smoothly every time. The unit is fully non-handed, so it works on left-hand or right-hand doors without adjustment. Field-selectable wiring enables either fail-secure (locks when power is lost) or fail-safe (unlocks when power is lost) operation to meet your security and life-safety requirements. An optional Latchbolt Monitor (LBM) switch is available to provide door status feedback to your access control or alarm panel.

The HES 8300 is available as a Complete Pac one-box solution, which includes the strike body and two faceplate options (801 and 801A) to accommodate different frame types out of the box. Standard finishes range from bright brass and bronze tones to stainless steel and black, allowing you to match existing door hardware (the Complete Pac is provided in a satin stainless steel finish). The 8300 Series is rigorously tested and certified: it meets UL 294 for access control, UL 10C and CAN/ULC-S104 for fire door assemblies, and is RoHS compliant, among many other certifications.
