The HES 4500C is a low-profile, heavy-duty Grade 1 electric strike engineered for fire-rated door frames. Its slim 1-3/8" (34.9 mm) body fits a 2" frame with only 1/2" of drywall penetration and no frame modification, and a stainless steel construction with a unique keeper pin locking mechanism is engineered to exceed the strength of the surrounding frame, door, and lock hardware.
Rated for 1,500 lbs of static holding force and 100 ft-lbs of dynamic impact, and cycle tested beyond 1,000,000 operations, the 4500C runs on 12 or 24 VDC with low current draw (240 mA @ 12 V, 120 mA @ 24 V); AC power sources connect through the optional 2001M plug-in bridge rectifier. Operation is field selectable between fail-secure and fail-safe - UL 10C fire rated up to 3 hours in fail-secure mode (the fail-safe mode is not fire rated).
Two interchangeable faceplates ship with the strike to fit cylindrical or mortise locksets with latchbolts up to 3/4" throw. The non-handed body with internally mounted solenoid installs in standard ANSI 4-7/8" preps in hollow metal frames (wood frames with appropriate reinforcement), with full-length keeper shims for horizontal adjustment and a trim enhancer to cover rough cuts. Optional LBM and LBSM monitoring reports latch and strike status, and every 4500C carries a 5 year no-fault warranty, extended to 10 years with the SMART Pac III power controller.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What locks does the 4500C work with?
- Cylindrical and mortise locksets with latchbolts up to 3/4" throw - two interchangeable faceplates are included to cover both.
- Is it fire rated?
- Yes - UL 10C rated up to 3 hours on fire door assemblies, in fail-secure mode only. The fail-safe mode is not fire rated.
- What frames does it fit?
- Standard ANSI 4-7/8" preps in hollow metal frames - including 2" frames, with only 1/2" drywall penetration - and wood frames with appropriate reinforcement.
- Can I choose fail-safe or fail-secure?
- Yes - operation is field selectable. Fail-secure keeps the door locked during power loss.
- What power does it require?
- 12 or 24 VDC (240 mA / 120 mA). For AC power sources, add the optional 2001M plug-in bridge rectifier.
- Can it report door status?
- Yes - order with the LBM latchbolt monitor or LBSM latchbolt strike monitor option.
- How does it compare to the HES 1500?
- The 1500 adds integrated in-frame adjustability; the 4500C focuses on maximum strength in tight, fire-rated frames. For openings without a fire rating requirement, the HES 5200 offers a low-profile alternative.
- What warranty does it carry?
- A 5 year no-fault warranty, extended to 10 years total with the SMART Pac III power controller.
