Product Overview
Overview
The HES 660 Series is a Grade 1 electromechanical cabinet lock designed to provide access control on cabinets, drawers, and enclosures with maximum safety. It provides an excess of 1,000 lbs of holding force in a surface-mounted form, putting it amongst the toughest multi-purpose locks in the category. Built for high traffic commercial use, the 660 Series brings the secure door-grade security level to lockers, equipment cabinets, display cabinets, and any secure storage area in business and government environments.
Technical Specifications
From a technical viewpoint, the HES 660 is designed to work in the most demanding environments. The all-metal construction (solid brass and stainless steel) makes it exceptionally durable, and it is tested for well over 1,000,000 cycles of operation. The lock features input for field-selectable 12 or 24VDC with a low current draw of 0.24 A at 12V or 0.12 A at 24V (continuous duty), so it can be easily powered by existing access control power supply. The 660 is fail secure by design, meaning that it remains locked when power is removed, giving you fail-safe security. Additonally, you can incorporate the optional Locked State Monitoring (LBSM) sensor, to provide a dry contact output giving the state of the lock's secure or released state. This option also allows easy integration with alarm panels or other supervision systems. If you are using the 660 on a door or drawer under pressure, there is an optional preload release feature that will allow the lock to be unlocked smoothly with up to 15 lbs of force on the door. With this feature you can reliably unlock the lock and open the door, even if someone is pulling on the door or if you have pressure from the gasket preventing the jam issues that standard locks experience. All of these elements meet or exceed the ANSI/BHMA Grade 1 standards for strength and reliability - a feat confirmed by the 660’s both holding force and endurance testing.
Commercial Application
The HES 660 Series is a versitile option for securing different enclosure types. Its surface-mounted, non-handed design allows the HES 660 Series lock to be mounted easily to both swinging or sliding doors or drawers, left-hand or right-hand swing doors or drawers, with no modifications needed. This makes the HES 660 Series an ideal option for retrofitting cabinets or drawers that previously utilized mechanical cam locks or other less secure mechanisms. Integrators can quickly mount the 660 via the adjustable bracket kit with a “final lockdown” feature to firmly secure the lock body once it is aligned.
With a small footprint (approximately 3.4″ × 2.3″ × 1.6″) that will fit in most enclosures, the 660 can be deployed into IT server racks, file storage cabinets, retail display cases, medical/pharmaceutical storage cabinets, and asset lockers. In these applications, it offers the convenience of electronic access using card reader, PIN pad, or remote release while delivering Grade 1 physical security. The lock can be easily integrated with existing access control and alarm systems by wiring the 660 to a controller or power supply. Optional monitoring outputs can be wired into the system and report back to indicate that the cabinet is locked and provide an audit on activity and current security status.
In comparison to earlier models and alternatives, the HES 660 offers significant upgrades in strength and functionality. For example, the smaller HES 610 Series cabinet lock provides around 200 lbs of holding force for low-abuse indoor applications, whereas the 660 Series delivers five times the strength (1,000 lbs) along with features like preload handling and monitoring for high-security needs. Unlike magnetic cabinet locks (which require continuous power to stay locked and can be forced open if power is cut), the 660’s fail-secure electromechanical bolt keeps the door mechanically secure during outages or emergency conditions. HES also offers the 630REL Series enclosure lock for outdoor or infrastructure cabinets – the 630REL includes weather-resistant sealing and a built-in key override for traffic enclosures and other harsh environments. In indoor deployments where extreme holding force and integration capability are paramount, however, the HES 660 Series stands out as the go-to solution, combining Grade 1 strength, flexible options, and ease of installation to meet the demands of modern access control projects.
Key Features & Benefits
