Hanchett Entry Systems (HES)
The HES KS200 Series Server Cabinet Locks are integrated electronic access control locks designed for server rack enclosures. They seamlessly extend your existing access control system to individual data center cabinet doors, helping protect critical IT assets from unauthorized access and costly downtime. These innovative swing-handle locks let organizations use the same access badges and credentials they already issue, enabling single-card convenience and audit trail logging down to each server cabinet.
Engineered for quick retrofit, KS200 series locks fit the standard 25 × 150 mm cutout found on most enterprise server cabinets and network racks. Installation is straightforward, allowing you to upgrade mechanical cabinet handles to a networked electronic locking solution with minimal effort or disruption. Once installed, the KS200 locks provide real-time monitoring and remote control of each cabinet door, significantly elevating physical security in data centers, colocation facilities, and other mission-critical environments. Deploying KS200 locks helps meet strict security compliance requirements (including support for government PIV credentials and other smart card standards) and ensures Grade 1 protection of servers and network equipment.
The KS200 Series offers hardwired connectivity for instant, secure communication with your access control infrastructure. The base model KS200 outputs industry-standard Wiegand signals (26-bit, 37-bit, etc.) for direct integration with most access control panels. For advanced installations, the KS210 model uses an RS-485 connection with the OSDP protocol, enabling encrypted bi-directional communication and multi-drop capability (daisy-chaining multiple locks on one controller port). Both models feature an integrated HID multiCLASS SE card reader that supports 125 kHz proximity cards (e.g. HID Prox) and 13.56 MHz smart cards including HID iCLASS, HID Seos, MIFARE DESFire, and even government PIV credentials. The reader is NFC-enabled for mobile access via smartphone, and the KS210 variant adds Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) support, allowing use of HID Mobile Access digital credentials.
Each KS200 series lock comes standard with a built-in lock status sensor to report locked/unlocked state. An optional door position switch (DPS) can be added to verify the cabinet door is closed and secured. The lock’s auxiliary output can tie into alarm systems for tamper alerts if needed. Power is supplied via 12–24 VDC (dual voltage) with a low current draw (~130 mA peak), making it easy to power from existing supplies (or even PoE with an appropriate adapter). In the event of a power outage, the KS200 is fail-secure, staying locked to keep assets protected (while still allowing manual key override).
For manual override, the KS200 Series accepts standard Small Format Interchangeable Core (SFIC) cylinders. A 6- or 7-pin SFIC (sold separately) can be installed for mechanical key access in emergencies or maintenance scenarios. An optional factory-configured Medeco X4 SFIC core is available for high-security keying. The lock’s cam mechanism provides a robust 350 lb static holding force to resist prying or forced entry. Its non-handed design and compact form allow mounting on either left-hand or right-hand cabinet doors without modification. The exterior has a sleek black finish that blends with IT rack equipment for a professional look.
The KS200 Series is ideally suited for data center and network security applications. Deploy these locks in enterprise data centers, colocation facilities, telecom equipment rooms, and IT closets where physical access to server racks must be controlled. The KS200 Series locks can be assigned on a per-cabinet basis so that only authoried personnel (like unique server administrators or technicians) can open the commitment cabinets. This is crucial for compliance with regulatory requirements such as PCI-DSS, HIPAA, or SOC 2 that require complete control and auditing of access to sensitive systems. Colocation providers can deploy KS200 locks to provide clients with enhanced security for their additional cabinet space. Corporate and government data centers can protect high-value servers with KS200 locks having the same access control as facility doors. The KS200 Series provides a reliable, scalable solution to provide audit trails and restricted access at the cabinet level for anyone with needs — financial institutions, healthcare organizations, research labs — you can install KS200 locks at protected cabinets to restrict access to only specific individuals or groups.
