A motion detector is the interior backstop: if someone defeats the perimeter, the room catches them. It is also the device most likely to produce a false alarm, so the selection question is less about range than about what else moves in the space, whether that is a pet, a draft over a radiator, or sunlight tracking across a floor.

Pet immunity is the common starting point. The LC-100-PI is a hardwired passive infrared detector with pet immunity, a Form A alarm contact, and a tamper switch, and the LC-103-PIMSK adds anti-masking, which reports an attempt to block or spray the lens rather than failing silently. For exterior coverage, the LC-171 combines two PIR channels with a microwave channel and requires agreement between technologies before alarming, which is what makes an outdoor detector usable at all. On the wireless side, the WS4904P and WLS914-433 bring pet-immune PIR coverage to rooms with no cable, and the Encore series covers economical hardwired zones. Mount across the likely path of travel rather than facing it, and keep heat sources, vents, and direct sun out of the pattern.
