The panel features four Style B (Class B) initiating device circuits compatible with approved two-wire and four-wire smoke detectors, manual pull stations, waterflow switches, tamper switches, and normally open initiating devices. Each zone includes individual alarm, supervisory, trouble, and maintenance indicators for identifying system conditions. The MS-4 also provides programmable zone functions, including combination supervisory and waterflow monitoring, allowing installers to configure fire protection functions according to building requirements.

The MS-4 includes two Style Y (Class B) notification appliance circuits (NACs) that support compatible audible and visual fire alarm notification devices. Built-in synchronization protocols accommodate System Sensor, Wheelock, and Gentex notification appliances, with selective silence functionality that allows audible signals to be silenced while synchronized strobes continue operating over the same circuit. The panel provides 3.0 amps of total usable system current, expandable to 6.0 amps with an optional second transformer, subject to individual circuit ratings. An optional CAC-4 converter module changes all four initiating circuits to Style D (Class A) and both notification circuits to Style Z (Class A), providing additional installation flexibility.

Designed to work with System Sensor i3 Series smoke detectors, the Fire-Lite MS-4 supports advanced detector diagnostics, including drift compensation, maintenance alerts, and low-temperature supervisory warnings. Additional operating features include selectable alarm verification, programmable silence inhibit and automatic silence, temporal or steady notification signaling, and audible or silent walk testing. Dedicated front-panel controls provide convenient access to acknowledge, alarm silence, system reset, walk test, and individual zone enable/disable functions, simplifying routine operation and system maintenance.

The Fire-Lite MS-4 operates from a 120 VAC, 50/60 Hz primary power source and incorporates a supervised battery charging circuit supporting appropriately sized sealed lead-acid standby batteries. Three Form-C relays provide dedicated alarm, trouble, and supervisory outputs for auxiliary system integration. Optional expansion accessories include the 4XTMF transmitter module, 4XZMF zone relay module, and 4XLMF LED interface module for compatible remote annunciation equipment. The panel carries manufacturer-documented UL Listing S624 and is intended for fire alarm installations designed according to applicable NFPA 72 requirements and local codes. As a conventional system, the MS-4 identifies alarm conditions by initiating zone rather than by individual addressable detector, making it suitable for facilities that do not require device-level addressability.
