Wired Sensors
Hardwired Sensors
Hardwired detection still wins wherever the wire is already there or the wall is still open. A wired zone has no battery to change, no supervision window to worry about, and no radio to be jammed or blocked, which is why commercial specifications and insurance requirements so often call for it on perimeter openings and high-value areas.
The devices divide by what they watch. Magnetic contacts report an opening. Glass break detectors such as the FG1625RT listen for the sound signature of breaking glass and cover a whole room. Hold-up devices give staff a deliberate, silent way to signal duress. Request-to-exit sensors such as the IS310 and IS320 release a locked door for someone leaving and shunt the door contact so a legitimate exit is not read as a break-in. All of them terminate on a panel zone with an end-of-line resistor so the panel can distinguish an alarm from a cut or shorted loop, and each should be wired so that tampering with the device reports rather than disables it.
