Glass Break Detectors

A glass break detector covers an entire room's worth of windows with one device, which is why it is the standard answer for a living room wall of glass, a storefront, or a patio slider where individual contacts would be expensive and easy to defeat by breaking the pane instead of opening it.

Acoustic models such as the round, tamper-protected FG1625RT listen for two things in sequence: the low-frequency thud of an impact on the pane, then the high-frequency signature of glass actually breaking. Requiring both in order is what keeps a dropped pan or a slammed door from causing a false alarm. Coverage is specified as a radius from the detector, so mount it on the ceiling or an opposite wall with a clear line to the glass, not behind drapes or furniture, and keep it within the rated distance for the glass type. A tamper switch reports if the cover is removed.

Pair with wired contacts on the openings themselves, see room detection under motion detectors, or the wider set under wired sensors. Browse the full Honeywell Ademco / Resideo catalog. Contact our team for placement and coverage help.
