The Fire-Lite SD365 is a white intelligent addressable photoelectric smoke detector featuring LiteSpeed communication, programmable sensitivity from 0.5% to 4.0% obscuration per foot, and 15-32 VDC signaling line circuit operation. Designed for compatible Fire-Lite addressable fire alarm control panels, it features rotary decimal addressing, dual multicolor LED indicators, magnetic functional testing, and a removable smoke sensing chamber cover. Its low-profile housing accommodates compatible 4-inch and 6-inch mounting bases, while UL 268 listing, low-current operation, and individual device addressing support commercial fire detection applications and compatible SD355 Series replacements.
Fire-Lite SD365 White Intelligent Addressable Photoelectric Smoke Detector
The Fire-Lite SD365 is a low-profile intelligent addressable photoelectric smoke detector with a white housing and LiteSpeed communication protocol, designed for commercial and institutional fire alarm systems. Manufactured by Fire-Lite Alarms, a Honeywell brand, the SD365 incorporates an enhanced optical sensing chamber engineered to detect smoke produced by a broad range of combustion sources. The detector communicates with compatible Fire-Lite addressable fire alarm control panels over a two-wire signaling line circuit (SLC), transmitting smoke density information, individual device identification, and operating status to the connected system. Its rotary decimal address switches support point addressing up to 159 addresses, subject to the connected control panel's device capacity. Designed as a replacement for compatible earlier Fire-Lite SD355 Series detectors, the SD365 provides updated sensing technology and a contemporary low-profile design for offices, schools, hospitals, hotels, warehouses, retail buildings, and other facilities requiring individually identifiable smoke detection.
The SD365 incorporates microprocessor-controlled photoelectric smoke sensing with a factory-preset nominal alarm threshold of 1.5% obscuration per foot. For UL applications, the detector supports a programmable sensitivity range of 0.5% to 4.0% obscuration per foot, allowing compatible fire alarm control panels to monitor detector sensitivity and apply supported alarm threshold settings. Its intelligent communication system transmits an analog representation of smoke density to the control panel, enabling panel-based alarm evaluation, sensitivity testing, and maintenance reporting. The detector features two panel-controlled multicolor LED indicators capable of displaying red, green, or amber status indications, with operating modes that include blinking, continuously illuminated, or disabled indicators. A built-in magnet-activated functional test switch allows technicians to initiate an electronic alarm test locally without removing the sensing head. Compatible Fire-Lite control panels also support remote functional testing and walk-test procedures, while the detector's removable sensing chamber cover and insect-resistant screen simplify inspection and cleaning during scheduled maintenance.
The Fire-Lite SD365 operates from a 15-32 VDC addressable signaling line circuit, with a manufacturer-specified maximum average standby current of 200 microamps at 24 VDC when communicating every five seconds with the LED enabled. Its maximum alarm indication current is 2 mA at 24 VDC, while maximum operating current reaches 4.5 mA at 24 VDC with the appropriate LED indication active. These low-current requirements support installation on compatible SLC loops containing multiple addressable detection devices, subject to the control panel's electrical and addressing limitations. The standard white SD365 supports Fire-Lite LiteSpeed communication exclusively, distinguishing it from the ivory SD365-IV model, which supports both LiteSpeed and Classic Loop Interface Protocol (CLIP). The detector operates in ambient temperatures ranging from 32 F to 122 F (0 C to 50 C), with relative humidity from 10% to 93%, non-condensing. Its approved air velocity range extends from 0 to 4,000 feet per minute, supporting open-area smoke detection and approved duct detection applications when installed in the appropriate configuration.
The SD365 features a fire-resistant plastic housing with a detachable plug-in detector head and separately wired mounting base, allowing installers to complete field wiring before attaching the sensing assembly. The detector measures approximately 2 inches high when installed in a compatible B300-6 mounting base, with an assembled diameter of approximately 6.2 inches using the B300-6 base or 4.1 inches using the B501 base. The detector head weighs approximately 3.4 ounces (95 grams). Compatible accessories include the B300-6 standard flanged base, B501 compact base, selected relay and isolator bases, and approved intelligent sounder bases, subject to the connected control panel's compatibility requirements. An optional RA100Z remote LED annunciator provides detector status indication at a separate location when installed with an appropriate base. Additional installation features include a tamper-resistant locking option, removable insect screen, and magnetic functional testing. Fire-Lite recommends typical detector spacing of 30 feet (9.1 meters) on smooth ceilings in low-airflow applications, with actual spacing governed by NFPA 72, ceiling construction, airflow conditions, and the authority having jurisdiction.
The Fire-Lite SD365 is designed for intelligent addressable smoke detection in compatible Fire-Lite LiteSpeed fire alarm systems. The detector is UL 268 listed for open-area smoke detection and UL 268A listed for approved duct applications, with manufacturer documentation identifying UL/ULC listing file S1059, Factory Mutual approval, and California State Fire Marshal recognition for the applicable series. Its enhanced optical chamber, programmable sensitivity, panel-based diagnostic capabilities, and individual device addressing support professional fire detection in commercial and institutional facilities. The SD365 is a photoelectric smoke-only detector and does not contain an integrated heat sensor, carbon monoxide sensor, or audible sounder. The separately designated SD365T incorporates 135 F fixed-temperature thermal sensing, while the SD365R provides remote-test capability for compatible duct detector installations. Unlike the dual-protocol SD365-IV, the standard SD365 requires LiteSpeed-compatible Fire-Lite control equipment and should not be installed on a CLIP-only signaling line circuit. Combining addressable photoelectric sensing, LiteSpeed communication, programmable sensitivity, low standby current, and serviceable detector construction, the Fire-Lite SD365 provides a smoke detection solution for new installations and compatible legacy Fire-Lite system upgrades.
