Door Monitoring, Timers & Relays

The lock and the reader get the attention, but the small devices around them determine how well a door actually performs. Monitoring switches tell the system what the door is doing, timers control how long it stays released, and relays connect the door to alarms, interlocks, and other building systems.

For monitoring, the LMS-1 latch monitor reports that a door is actually latched, which reduces false alarms, and concealed DPS door position switches report open and closed status on metal or wood doors. High security MSS switches such as the MSS-1C are built for critical doors where an attempt to defeat the switch is a concern. For timing, the TM-9 extends a push button or keyswitch release so a door stays unlocked long enough to pass through, the DT-7 locks and unlocks doors on daily or weekly schedules, and XDT exit delay timers such as the XDT-12 manage delayed egress sequences, with the PZ1 piezo sounding a local alarm. For logic, relay modules such as the AQL R8, relay logic packs, and relay boards create two-door interlocks, latching alarms, and shunts.
