Delayed Egress Magnalocks

A delayed egress Magnalock combines the lock and the exit delay logic in one unit. When someone pushes on the door from inside, the lock sounds a local alarm and holds for a short, code-approved interval before releasing, which gives staff time to respond at doors where people should not leave unnoticed, while the door still functions as an exit. That makes it a common choice for healthcare facilities, retail stockrooms, and other secure perimeter doors that must remain part of the means of egress.

The DEM680E is built on the 1,200 pound EcoMag 680 platform. Standard models are offered in architectural finishes including satin aluminum and satin stainless steel, and code-specific versions are available where local rules dictate the delay: CA15S and CA30S models are configured for California code with 15 and 30 second delays. Codes that permit delayed egress generally require that the lock release immediately on fire alarm activation or power loss, that the delay be irreversible once started, and that the door carry signage explaining the delay, so confirm the exact requirements with the authority having jurisdiction before ordering.
