The Schlage ND170 is single dummy trim from the ND Series: a fixed lever on one side of the door only, with no latch and no chassis. It does not operate anything. It is mounted where you need a door pull, or where an inactive leaf needs trim that matches the working ND Series hardware elsewhere on the opening.

That is its whole job, and it does it without a lock mechanism behind it. Typical uses are the inactive leaf of a pair, a closet or cabinet door held by a catch or magnet, a surface that needs a grip and nothing more, or any door where the visual line of ND levers has to continue across an opening that does not latch.

It takes the same nine ND Series lever designs and nine finishes, plus the 626AM antimicrobial coating, so it suites exactly with the ND10, ND12, and keyed ND functions on neighboring doors. The lever mounts to a spring cage and rose and can be pulled off later with a pin wrench for service.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is dummy trim?
A fixed lever that operates nothing. There is no latch and no lock chassis behind it. It is there to give the door a grip and to match the look of the working hardware around it.
What is the difference between ND170 and ND172?
How many sides. The ND170 is single dummy trim, a fixed lever on one side. The ND172 is double dummy trim, with fixed levers on both sides.
Will the door latch or lock?
No. The ND170 has no latch and no chassis, so it neither latches nor locks. The door must be held closed by something else, such as a catch, a magnet, or flush bolts on an inactive leaf.
Where is it normally used?
On the inactive leaf of a pair, on closet and cabinet doors, and anywhere a door needs a pull with matching trim rather than an operating lock.
Will it match my other ND levers?
Yes. It is offered in the same nine ND Series lever designs and nine finishes as the operating ND locks, so trim reads consistently across an opening or a corridor.
How does it mount?
A spring cage is screwed to the door, a through mounting screw and washer are fitted, the rose installs by aligning the dimple and groove and rotating until it stops, then the lever pushes on until the lever catch engages. A door prep template is included in the package.
Can the lever be removed later?
Yes. Insert a pin wrench, push against the lever catch, and pull the lever off. Useful for servicing or swapping a damaged lever without replacing the whole assembly.
Is there an antimicrobial option?
Yes, an antimicrobial coating on the 626 satin chrome finish, ordered as 626AM.
