How many keypads can I install with my Vista 20P?

Last Updated: 11/07/2013
The Vista 20P Control Panel can support a maximum of 8 addressable keypads, 4 touchscreen keypads, or an unlimited number of wireless keypads.

Deciding which alarm keypad to use is one of the first issues that needs addressing if you are going to invest in a Vista 20P Control Panel.

If you plan on using multiple keypads with your system, you should start with the 6160 or 6160RF alphanumeric keypads. An alphanumeric keypad is required for full system programming.   After that, you can install additional keypads throughout your home or office for easier access to your security system.

Luckily, Honeywell carries a slew of keypads, each designed with different features that are bound to fit your specific needs. Regular addressable keypads require device addresses to be programmed into the control panel before use. Touchscreen keypads, like the Z-wave compatible Tuxedo Touch, work with device addresses 1,2,5, and 6.

The Total Connect Service uses up one of the four zones available for touchscreen keypads.  If you intend to use Total Connect, then you will only have three touchscreen keypad zones to work with.

Unlike regular addressable or touchscreen keypads, wireless keypads can be added without numerical constraint.  The only prerequisite is that you install a wireless receiver, like the 6160RF, into your system.
