Vista series control panels are connected to two separate power sources for more reliable performance and security.
The panel is built to operate primarily off of AC power through a transformer that plugs into a standard wall outlet. Its emergency backup power supply comes in the form of a battery that is attached to the back of the panel. In case of a blown fuse or wide-spread power outage, the backup battery will automatically engage to make sure your security system is always up and running no matter what the situation.
As for connecting your system...
The 16.5 VAC/25VA transformer attaches to two screw terminals on the control board and is plugged into a neighboring power outlet. The backup battery is connected to the control board using a black and red lead wire.
