Wireless Keypads

A wireless keypad puts an arming station where running cable would be disruptive or simply not worth it: a finished basement, a detached garage, an added rear entrance, or a bedroom where someone wants to disarm before coming downstairs. It talks to the panel over the same supervised radio the sensors use, so the panel still knows if the keypad stops checking in.

These are battery powered, which shapes how they behave. Displays sleep between uses to conserve power, batteries are supervised and report a low condition to the panel well before they die, and a tamper switch reports if the housing is opened or pulled off the wall. Range depends on construction, so mount within the panel's rated distance and avoid placing the keypad against foil-backed insulation, masonry, or metal that will attenuate the signal. Some ship as kits with a mounting plate or desk stand.
