A combination panel protects a building against both fire and intrusion from one board, one enclosure, and one communicator path. For small and mid-size commercial sites, that is usually cheaper to install and easier to service than two separate systems, and it gives the owner a single account and one set of keypads instead of two competing user interfaces.

These panels carry a commercial fire listing, which changes what the installation must do: fire zones are supervised and annunciated separately from burglary zones, trouble conditions have to display and sound at the keypad, standby battery capacity is dictated by code, and the communicator has to be listed for fire reporting. Capacity scales from a few dozen zones to well over a hundred using addressable or multiplex device loops, and many are sold as kits that pair the panel with the right keypads and radio so nothing in the bundle is mismatched.
