All-in-One Security Systems

An all-in-one system collapses the traditional panel, keypad, wireless receiver, and siren into a single wall-mounted unit with a touchscreen on the front. For a house or a small suite, that removes the metal can in the closet, the keypad bus, and most of the wire, which is why these systems dominate residential work and light commercial retrofits where labor is the largest line on the quote.

A typical unit carries a color touchscreen with guided prompts, a supervised wireless radio for contacts and motion detectors, a built-in sounder, and a slot for a cellular or Wi-Fi communicator so the system reports without a phone line. Many add Z-Wave automation, on-screen video from connected cameras, and a backup battery sized for the standby period the local code requires. Hardwired points can usually be brought in through a converter when a building already has wiring worth keeping.
