Wireless Sensors
Wireless Sensors
Wireless detection is what makes a retrofit economical. A contact on an upstairs window or a motion detector in a finished basement goes up in minutes with adhesive or two screws, with no fishing wire through a wall that someone has already painted. On new construction it buys flexibility, letting zones be added after drywall when the customer changes their mind about the layout.
The range covers the same jobs wired devices do: door and window contacts in standard and wide gap versions such as the miniature 5800MINI and the 5815WG, contacts with shock sensing built in for glass doors, indoor passive infrared motion detectors, the weather-rated 5800PIR-OD2 outdoor detector with masking strips to trim the pattern away from a driveway, the 5809SS fixed and rate-of-rise heat detector for garages and attics, and the 5808W3A photoelectric smoke and heat detector with a built-in sounder. Hardwired V-Plex motion detectors are listed here as well, so check the connection type against your panel. Every device is supervised, checking in on a schedule so the panel reports a dead or removed sensor, and carries a tamper switch and a supervised battery, usually a lithium cell rated for years of service. Newer encrypted lines close the spoofing weakness of older unencrypted radio, so match the sensor family to the panel.
