EMX
EMX Photoeyes, Vehicle Detectors and Gate Sensors
EMX makes the detection hardware that goes around an automatic gate, overhead door or parking barrier: photoeyes for entrapment protection, loop detectors and preformed loops, buried free exit probes, microwave and radar sensors, keypads, card readers and RFID tags, remote controls and timers. Browse the full EMX catalog below, or shop thru beam photoeyes, retroreflective photoeyes, loop detectors, preformed loops and keypads and card readers.
Thru Beam and Retroreflective Photoeyes
A thru beam photoeye is a transmitter and a receiver on opposite sides of the opening; a retroreflective photoeye puts the electronics in one housing and bounces the beam off a reflector. EMX lists both. The thru beam line runs from an infrared photoeye that works without lenses, so it is easy to align and less sensitive to fog, dust, snow and sunlight, up to monitored weather-proof units that are UL325 compliant in a rugged NEMA 4X enclosure or an IP65 rated enclosure, plus a device-type B1 non-contact sensor for automatic gate operators.
Retroreflective models are listed as reversing sensors for commercial overhead doors, gates and parking barriers, including a monitored 60 foot range unit and versions sold as kits with the sensor, reflector and hood together. Round reflectors, protective hoods in grey and gold, L-shaped brackets, strain relief spouts and mounting posts are all listed separately.
Vehicle Loop Detectors
Loop detectors read the in-ground wire loop that senses a vehicle. The D-TEK line is designed for easy installation with maximum surge protection on all inputs and outputs, with a low power model drawing 9 mA for solar applications and a multi-voltage model so one detector covers every voltage on the truck. The ULTRALOOP units combine small size with full functionality in a DIN rail mount module and add DETECT-ON-STOP, which detects only when a vehicle has come to a complete stop on the loop, so cross traffic in tight spaces is ignored.
Plug-in, direct wire, 10 pin and 11 pin versions are listed with single and dual channel and single or dual relay outputs, alongside socket bases, pin harnesses and a loop tester that locates whether the fault is the loop or the detector. Shop loop detectors and preformed loops.
Preformed Loops and Loop Pads
A preformed loop skips winding wire in a saw cut. Ready-to-use loops are listed from 2 by 6 foot up to 8 by 12 foot with 50 foot or 100 foot leads, suitable for saw cut, tar and concrete installations and compatible with all EMX vehicle loop detectors. Surface mounted loop pads, a lead-in guard, a wire guard version and a splice kit cover installs where cutting pavement is not an option.
Free Exit Probes and Vehicle Motion Detectors
Where a loop will not fit, EMX buries a probe beside the driveway instead. The single-piece vehicle motion detector houses the probe and its electronics in a slim design buried next to a driveway, with ten sensitivity settings programmed through a remote control that plugs into the harness. The CarSense line uses a buried sensing probe to protect against vandalism, housed in a small relay-type housing that integrates with security control boards and gate and door operators.
Probes are listed as direct burial or flat pack with 50 foot and 100 foot leads, with single sensor controllers, logic controllers for A to B directionality or an increased zone, and complete sensor kits. Shop the single piece free exit probe detectors.
Microwave, Radar and Ultrasonic Sensors
Microwave sensors activate a gate or door on motion rather than on a broken beam. K-band planar microwave units are listed for vehicles and pedestrians on fast and industrial gates and for people on automatic doors, with three programmable motion detection options of toward, away or both. A microwave sensor capable of discriminating between pedestrians and vehicles is listed alongside a combined microwave and active infrared activation and safety sensor.
A radar presence sensor indicates a vehicle or person near a barrier arm and is unaffected by rain, snow, fog or sunlight. The drive thru vehicle sensor uses Triangular Planar Array technology to detect the presence of a vehicle for fast food, banking, pharmacies, car washes and parking, mounted on a post or order box with no loop cut into the pavement, and drive thru alert kits pair it with an audible chime. Shop microwave detectors and the drive thru vehicle sensor.
Keypads, Card Readers and RFID Tags
Credential hardware covers a dual relay output programmable keypad with back-lit all metal key buttons in a rugged metal housing for high traffic and harsh environments, a waterproof Wiegand card reader and keypad for up to 2,000 users with a tamper alarm and luminous keypad, and a waterproof stand alone proximity reader.
For vehicles there is a mid range UHF RFID reader for horizontal and vertical tags up to 9 foot range with 26 bit Wiegand output, and the tags to go with it: clear windshield tags, plain white and logo windshield tags at 4 in by 1 in, hangtags, ISO cards, and a metal mount tag encased in ABS plastic. Browse keypads and card readers.
Remote Controls and Timers
Long range wireless transmitters and receivers operate up to 450 feet and control garage door openers, lights, gates and doors, listed as single and dual button units, visor clip transmitters with two or four buttons, single and two channel receivers, a NEMA 4 housed receiver and an extended range antenna. Bluetooth controls that activate as soon as a phone gets into 33 foot range are listed as well.
Timers cover a seven day timer that holds overhead doors, gates and parking barriers open during rush hours and programs lock-out times for doors with magnetic locks and electric strikes, a panel mount digital timer with memory backup offering 17 on and off events per day, and programmable timers in 12, 24 and 120 volt versions. Shop timers and remote controls.
Magnetic Locks and Mounting Hardware
Magnetic locks are listed at 600lb and 1200lb holding force in a stainless steel housing designed for outdoor use on automatic doors and gates, with L and Z brackets for each size. Mounting hardware for the sensors covers universal L-shaped brackets, multi-product brackets, mounting posts for external and internal mount, protective hoods and sensor enclosures.
