JMAC ID: 202168764
The System Sensor OSI-R-SS is an Innovair reflected imaging beam smoke detector designed for fire detection in large open areas and buildings with high ceilings. Featuring a single-ended, 4-wire conventional design with a combined infrared transmitter and receiver, the detector monitors distances from 16 to 328 feet (5-100 meters) using an included reflector. Its 12-degree field of view, automatic sensitivity adjustment, LED-guided alignment, and integrated sensitivity testing provide reliable smoke detection for warehouses, atriums, gymnasiums, and commercial facilities.
System Sensor OSI-R-SS Conventional Reflective Imaging Beam Smoke Detector
The System Sensor OSI-R-SS Reflective Imaging Beam Smoke Detector provides conventional fire detection for large open spaces where high ceilings or extensive floor areas make traditional spot-type smoke detectors difficult to install and maintain. Designed for warehouses, atriums, gymnasiums, aircraft hangars, and commercial buildings, the detector uses an infrared beam to identify smoke obscuration between a combined transmitter/receiver unit and a remotely mounted reflector. Its single-ended, 4-wire configuration requires electrical connections at only the transmitter/receiver location, simplifying installation compared with systems requiring separate powered transmitters and receivers. The included reflector enables a standard protection range of 16 to 328 feet (5-100 meters) without requiring an additional long-range kit.
The OSI-R-SS operates on 10.2-32 VDC with nominal 12VDC or 24VDC power, drawing a maximum standby current of 11 mA at 24VDC and a maximum alarm current of 15 mA at 24VDC with the alarm LED illuminated. Its imaging system features a 12-degree field of view and automatically selects sensitivity thresholds of 25%, 30%, 40%, or 50% obscuration during commissioning. The detector measures 10 inches wide, 6 inches high, and 4.5 inches deep (254 x 152.4 x 114.3 mm), while the included reflector measures approximately 7.87 x 9.06 inches (200 x 230 mm). Manufacturer specifications identify an application temperature range of -4 F to 131 F (-20 C to 55 C) and a UL-listed operating range of 32 F to 100 F (0 C to 37.8 C), with 0-95% noncondensing relative humidity.
The System Sensor OSI-R-SS incorporates LED-guided optical alignment, automatic drift compensation, and intelligent imaging technology to maintain reliable smoke detection despite gradual dust accumulation and minor structural movement. Four directional LED arrows guide installers during alignment, while the adjustable optical assembly provides 50 degrees of horizontal and 20 degrees of vertical adjustment. Its imaging system tolerates approximately 1 degree of building movement and uses optical filtering and signal analysis to reduce nuisance alarms caused by sunlight, partial beam obstruction, and changing environmental conditions. Separate alarm and trouble relay contacts rated at 0.5A at 30VDC support integration with compatible conventional fire alarm control panels. Integrated red, yellow, and green LEDs identify alarm, trouble, and normal operating conditions. The detector also includes an internal imager heater to reduce condensation, with additional power required when the heater is enabled.
The System Sensor OSI-R-SS Beam Smoke Detector features removable terminal blocks, a paintable housing cover, local test and reset controls, and support for remote electronic sensitivity testing. Compatible accessories include the RTS151 and RTS151KEY remote test stations, OSP-004 test filters, BEAMHKR reflector heater kit, and 6500-MMK multi-mount accessory. Standard installation uses wall-mounted positioning of the detector and reflector, with ceiling and alternative mounting arrangements supported through approved accessories. The OSI-R-SS is UL listed, FM approved, and California State Fire Marshal (CSFM) approved for applicable fire alarm installations. As a conventional beam detector, it connects to compatible fire alarm initiating circuits rather than operating as an individually addressable SLC device. Installation, detector spacing, electrical connections, optical alignment, testing, and maintenance must comply with System Sensor instructions, NFPA 72, and applicable local fire codes.
