The WSS, or the wave sense switch, features a new way to work switches using motion sensing technology for hands-free activation. This exit device is in a class of its own. It uses active motion sensing using the Doppler radar which is more reliable than infrared sensors. This helps to reduce transmission of germs and make a more convenient way of opening the door when your hands aren’t available. Incidental traffic would be screened out with the adjustable sensing zone from 4” to 24”.

When receiving the WSS, the package should contain a microwave sensor, a weather-resistant gasket, a mounting ring, a faceplate with the faceplate screws, instructions and lastly an adapter ring (double-gang model only).

Different features include a pulse mode, this allows for the device to initiate action or toggle mode to provide on/off switch. It comes with a mounting ring, which would be included or installed in a standard plastic or metal gang box. If one desires to make this weather proof, this device is compatible with the WBB or weather back box and the WCC, weather cover- clear.

The WSS only has two models, the WSS-W1 which is a white model with a single gang faceplate at a size of 4-1/2” x 2-3/4” and the other is the double gang faceplate model which is the WSS-W2 at a size of 4-1/2” x 4-1/2”.

It has a voltage of 12 or 24 DC or AC input (+10%) and a maximum power consumption of less than 1.5W (125 mW at 12 VDC). It has electromagnetic compatibility according to 2004/108/EC. With the FCC certified its G9B-MS08 and with the IC (international door closers) it is 4680A-MS08. It has 1A SPDT contact that can be used in toggle or pulse mode with an output of 0.5 seconds.

At a shipping weight of 0.5 lbs., this device has an operating temperature of -4 to +131F (-20 to +55C). Making it original intention to be indoors, however for the WSS to become weather proof, there are two accessories. There is the WBB which is the weather back box, and the WCC which is the clear cover to make it able to be mounted in an outdoor location not directly exposed to rain or snow.
