Securitron SAMD Shear Magnalock, 12/24VDC, Self Aligning, Door Position Switch

The Securitron SAMD is a 1,200 lb shear-aligning electromagnetic lock with an integrated Door Position Switch (DPS) for concealed access control installations. It operates automatically at 12 or 24 VDC, mounts in the header, door edge, or threshold, and supports sliding, in-swing, out-swing, and swing-through door configurations while providing monitored door-position status to the access control system.

Securitron SAMD Shear Aligning Magnalock with DPS

The Securitron SAMD is a concealed shear-aligning Magnalock designed for traffic-control and medium-security access control applications requiring high holding force with minimal visible hardware. The lock provides 1,200 lbs [544 kg] of holding force and incorporates an integrated Door Position Switch (DPS) for monitoring whether the controlled door is open or closed. Its shear-locking configuration allows the magnet and strike to secure the opening along the shear plane rather than through conventional direct-pull magnetic locking.

The SAMD features automatic 12/24 VDC operation with no field voltage adjustment required. Current draw is 320 mA at 12 VDC and 170 mA at 24 VDC. Securitron also incorporates an instant-release circuit to eliminate residual magnetism, MOV-based electrical noise suppression, sealed electronics, plated ferrous metal surfaces for corrosion resistance, and 10 ft [3.05 m] of jacketed stranded conductor cable.

The concealed mounting design supports sliding, in-swing, out-swing, and swing-through doors, including single-door openings and individual leaves of paired-door configurations. The lock can be recessed into compatible wood, steel, or aluminum openings at the header, door edge, or threshold. The Magnalock measures 10-7/8 inches long by 1-3/16 inches deep by 1-1/2 inches high, while the strike measures 10-7/8 inches long by 1-7/16 inches deep by 1-1/2 inches high.

The Securitron SAM series is ANSI/UL 294 listed, UL 10C listed, ANSI/BHMA A156.23 Grade 2, and fire rated, with additional CAN/ULC and California State Fire Marshal approvals documented by Securitron. The SAMD operates from -40 F to 140 F [-40 C to 60 C] and carries Securitron's MagnaCare lifetime replacement warranty. Its combination of concealed installation, 1,200 lb holding force, flexible door orientation, and integrated DPS makes it suitable for commercial access-controlled openings where door status monitoring is required.
