The Securitron EPT Electrical Power Transfer is a concealed, tamper-resistant door hardware component designed to route electrical power and control wiring between a door frame and an electrified swinging door. Featuring a durable stamped steel housing, flexible spring steel conduit, and 10-inch transfer cord, the EPT protects wiring from exposure and mechanical damage during door operation. Its standard configuration supports butt hinges, continuous hinges, and offset pivot hinges up to 3/4 inch, making it suitable for electrified locks, exit devices, and commercial access control installations.

Securitron EPT Concealed Electrical Power Transfer for Electrified Door Hardware

The Securitron EPT Electrical Power Transfer provides a concealed wiring pathway between the door frame and swinging door for commercial electronic access control systems. Designed to transfer electrical power and control signals to electrified mortise locks, electric exit devices, and other powered door hardware, the EPT protects wiring while allowing the door to open and close normally. Its stamped steel housing and flexible spring steel conduit provide mechanical protection against wire damage, tampering, and repeated door movement. The unit installs within the hinge-side edges of the door and frame, keeping the power transfer assembly concealed when the door is closed.

The standard Securitron EPT features a 10-inch flexible transfer cord enclosed within a steel protective shield that accommodates wire bundles up to 5/16 inch (8 mm) thick. The interior flex shield has a 3/8-inch (9.5 mm) diameter, while the housing measures approximately 12-3/4 inches long, 7/8 inch wide, and 11/16 inch deep. The assembly weighs approximately 0.75 pounds (0.34 kg) and features rounded mounting tabs for installation within prepared door and frame edges. Unlike prewired electrical transfer devices, the standard EPT is supplied without integrated electrical connectors, allowing installers to route appropriately sized conductors according to the connected hardware's electrical requirements.

The Securitron EPT accommodates swinging doors equipped with standard butt hinges, continuous hinges, and offset pivot hinges with offsets up to 3/4 inch (19 mm). Its concealed installation provides a protected connection between the stationary door frame and moving electrified hardware, reducing wiring exposure at commercial entrances, secured offices, institutional facilities, and controlled-access openings. The standard EPT is not designed for center-pivot doors or swing-clear hinges; the Securitron EPT-SC provides an alternative for swing-clear hinge applications. Other available configurations include the EPTL extended-length model with an 18-inch cord and ElectroLynx-compatible EL-EPT versions with factory-installed wiring connectors.

The Securitron EPT Electrical Power Transfer supports commercial door security installations requiring concealed wiring for electrically operated locking hardware. Its tamper-resistant steel construction, flexible protected wiring pathway, and compatibility with common commercial hinge configurations make it suitable for new access control installations and electrified door upgrades. Manufacturer documentation identifies UL 10C and CAN4-S104 listings, along with compliance with ANSI/SDI-BHMA A250.13 windstorm testing requirements. The product is backed by Securitron's MagnaCare lifetime replacement warranty, subject to manufacturer terms. Installers should verify hinge geometry, door preparation, conductor capacity, and applicable fire-rated opening requirements before installation.
