The ISONAS RC-04-PRX-W is a Pure IP intelligent access control reader-controller that combines a 125 kHz proximity card reader, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) credential support, and single-door access controller in one wall-mounted device. Designed to eliminate the need for a separate access control panel, it connects directly to Ethernet networks using IEEE 802.3af Power over Ethernet (PoE) or 12VDC power. The RC-04-PRX-W supports up to 64,000 credentials, local access decisions, IP56 weather resistance, and UL 294 certification for commercial access control installations.
The ISONAS RC-04-PRX-W Pure IP Reader-Controller integrates proximity credential authentication and intelligent door access control into a single wall-mounted device for commercial offices, educational institutions, healthcare facilities, industrial buildings, and multi-site security applications. Unlike conventional access control systems that require separate credential readers and centralized door controllers, the RC-04-PRX-W uses ISONAS Pure IP technology to perform access control decisions directly at the door. This architecture reduces the need for dedicated control panel enclosures and extensive home-run wiring while allowing administrators to manage access permissions through compatible network-based software. The reader-controller mounts to a standard single-gang electrical box and provides a compact solution for new installations and existing access control system upgrades.
The RC-04-PRX-W supports 125 kHz low-frequency proximity credentials and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) mobile authentication, allowing authorized users to access controlled openings using compatible proximity cards, key fobs, or smartphones with the ISONAS Pure Mobile application. The device provides a proximity reading range of approximately 3 inches and supports local storage of up to 64,000 credentials, 5,000 events, and 32 time schedules. Its distributed intelligence enables local access decisions when network communication is interrupted, maintaining configured door access functions without continuous communication with the host software. Integrated visual indicators provide operational feedback, while accelerometer-based tamper detection identifies physical interference with the reader-controller.
Network connectivity is provided through a 10 Mbps Ethernet interface supporting TCP/IP communication, DHCP addressing, and host or client operating modes. The device operates using IEEE 802.3af Class 0 Power over Ethernet or an external 12VDC power supply with an acceptable input range of 9-16VDC. It does not support direct 24VDC input. An integrated lock control output provides up to 600 mA of conditioned lock power and supports compatible fail-safe and fail-secure electronic locking hardware. Two configurable inputs accommodate door position monitoring, request-to-exit devices, or auxiliary control functions. An eight-wire pigtail connection simplifies integration with compatible electric strikes, magnetic locks, door contacts, and exit devices. Lock power requirements and applicable life safety codes must be evaluated when selecting connected locking hardware.
The RC-04-PRX-W measures approximately 5.1 inches high, 3.25 inches wide, and 0.71 inches deep and features a detachable metal mounting bracket that supports secure installation and consistent credential reading performance. Its conformal-coated electronics and IP56 ingress protection rating provide resistance to dust and water exposure in appropriately installed indoor and outdoor applications. The reader-controller operates in temperatures ranging from -40 F to 135 F (-40 C to 57 C) and carries UL 294 V6 certification for access control equipment and FCC certification. Weather-exposed installations require suitable cable sealing, moisture protection, and mounting practices consistent with ISONAS installation guidelines.
Access management is supported through ISONAS Pure Access Cloud and Pure Access Manager on-premises software, with additional integrations available for compatible Open Options and Genetec access control environments. Administrators can configure credential permissions, access schedules, door status monitoring, and event reporting through supported management platforms. The controller's field-upgradable firmware supports maintenance and system configuration updates, while its network architecture allows individual doors to be added without installing a dedicated control panel for every opening. For existing ISONAS installations, compatible RC-03-to-RC-04 adapter cables provide a migration option when replacing older reader-controller hardware. The RC-04-PRX-W is the standard proximity-only wall-mount model without an integrated keypad; installations requiring keypad authentication can use the RC-04-PRX-WK, while applications requiring both 125 kHz and 13.56 MHz credential compatibility can use the RC-04-MCT-W.
