Cabinet Locks with Integrated Readers
When a cabinet holds something that needs an audit trail, such as controlled medication, cash, evidence, or patient records, a keyed lock is not enough, because a key cannot say who used it. A credential cabinet lock puts the card reader in the lock itself, so every opening is tied to a specific person and recorded by the access control system, and the same card that opens the building opens the drawer.
The HES K200 combines a multi-technology multiCLASS SE reader with the locking mechanism and communicates with the access control system over Wiegand, which lets nearly any panel that accepts a standard card reader add cabinets and drawers to its schedule. It provides real-time audit and door monitoring at the individual drawer or cabinet, works on cabinet doors and lockers up to 1-1/2 inches thick, and is available with hardware options such as a black pinch knob. Because the reader and lock are a single unit, there is no separate reader to mount on the cabinet face, only the lock and its hardwired run back to the panel. That keeps the installation clean on furniture, casework, and medication carts where a surface-mounted reader would be in the way.
