Wireless Card Readers
Some entrances simply cannot take a cable run to a card reader: frameless glass, stone or marble walls, historic finishes, and lobbies where a wall cannot be opened. A wireless reader solves that by communicating with the access control system over radio instead of wire, so the credential point can go exactly where people expect it without damaging the surface behind it.
Securitron's R100 readers use ASSA ABLOY Aperio wireless technology. The reader mounts at the opening and communicates with an Aperio hub connected to the access control panel, so the panel sees a normal reader while the last few feet to the door are wireless. Kits such as the R100-1H-SE pair a surface-mounted iCLASS SE reader with a one-to-one hub, and prox versions are available for sites on 125 kHz credentials. Readers such as the R100H-IPS-B are rated IP65 for weather exposure, and dress plates and aluminum dress covers finish the installation. Before specifying, confirm the credential technology the site uses and that the access control platform supports Aperio.
