The Schlage HL6-9010 combines HL6 push/pull hardware with the Schlage L Series heavy duty mortise lock in the 9010 passage function (ANSI F01). The latchbolt is retracted by the paddle from either side at all times, and the inside paddle is always free for immediate egress. Its short throw angle opens the door with an easy push or pull even when hands are not free.
Choosing the mortise version over the tubular HL6 buys durability and capacity. The mortise case carries a 3/4 inch throw stainless steel latchbolt instead of 1/2 inch, ships with an ASA strike as standard, and is UL Listed for 3 hour fire doors up to 4 ft by 10 ft rather than 4 ft by 8 ft. It is the specification for high traffic healthcare and institutional openings that have to survive years of hip and forearm operation.
Quiet operation is standard across the HL Series: dampened paddle action on both depression and snap back gives a proven 50 percent quieter paddle than the previous generation, in both push and pull directions. The hardware is non-handed, mounts in five positions, and is offered in 10 finishes including antimicrobial 626AM and 630AM, with optional PUSH and PULL engraving.

- Schlage L Series heavy duty mortise lock case behind HL6 push/pull trim.
- 9010 passage function (ANSI F01) - latchbolt retracted by the paddle from either side at all times; inside paddle always free for immediate egress.
- 3/4 inch throw stainless steel latchbolt.
- 50 percent quieter paddle operation than the previous generation, in both push and pull directions.
- Dampened paddle action on depression and snap back reduces noise from lock operation.
- Non-handed, with five mounting positions.
- ASA strike standard, with a bent tab strike available.
- 10 finishes, including 626AM and 630AM antimicrobial options.
- Optional PUSH and PULL engraving on the handles in six orientations.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What does 9010 mean?
- It is the Schlage mortise lock function: 9010 passage, ANSI F01. The latch retracts from the paddle on either side at all times and the door never locks.
- How is this different from the tubular HL6?
- The mortise case. You get a 3/4 inch latchbolt instead of 1/2 inch, an ASA strike as standard, and a 4 ft by 10 ft UL fire door listing instead of 4 ft by 8 ft. The paddle operation and quiet action are identical. Choose mortise for high traffic and long service life, tubular for lower cost on lighter openings.
- Does it lock?
- No. The 9010 is a passage function. If the opening needs to lock, the same HL6 push/pull trim is available on 15 other mortise functions, including classroom (9070), storeroom (9080), entrance/office (9050), institution (9082), and electrified storeroom (9092 EL/EU).
- Is it handed?
- The hardware is non-handed and mounts in five positions - handles down, handles up, one up and one down, or pointing away from the latch. Note that the E3 and E4 horizontal engraving codes are handed, so specify right or left hand for those.
- Can it go on a fire door?
- Yes. It is UL Listed for 3 hour fire doors up to 4 ft by 10 ft on single labeled metal or wood doors, which is a larger opening than the tubular HL6 covers.
- Which strike ships with it?
- The ASA strike is standard on the mortise version. Specify BT if the frame needs the bent tab strike.
- What are the antimicrobial finishes?
- 626AM satin chrome and 630AM satin stainless steel, the antimicrobial versions of the two most commonly specified finishes, for facilities wanting an antimicrobial treatment on high touch hardware.
- What does the engraving option add?
- PUSH and PULL lettering on the handles so traffic reads the door correctly. Match the code to the mounting position: E1 push up and pull down, E2 push up and pull up, E5 push down and pull up, E6 push down and pull down, or E3 and E4 for horizontal engraving.
- Can HL6 push/pull go on an exit device?
- Yes, as a separate product. Allegion pairs the HL6 push/pull trim with the Von Duprin 9875/9975 mortise exit device to give an exit device with mortise lock durability and ADA compliance. Ask us and we will quote it from the Von Duprin 98/99 range.
- Will it fit my door?
- It is made for 1-3/4 inch doors on a 2-3/4 inch backset. Other thicknesses are available from Schlage on request, so contact us if your door differs.
