How do I make my L5100 panel compatible with Z-Wave?

Last Updated: 11/07/2013
Adding a Honeywell L5100-ZWAVE to your L5100 alarm panel will make your system compatible with ZWAVE devices.

ZWAVE technology turns your alarm panel into a fully-operational home automation system, and gives you the power to control all compatible ZWave devices in your home, such as lights and thermostats.

Installing the L5100-ZWAVE Module...

Use a flat head screw driver to pop open the tab at the top of the L5100 panel.  The cover will open and your cover tamper will beep repeatedly.  Press the "unlock" key and then enter your master code (default master code is "1234") to silence the beeping.  Now power the system down by removing your battery connection (black and red wire) and your AC power connection (black LT cable).

Insert the L5100 ZWAVE module into the port on the left side of your L5100 control panel.  Reconnect the battery power first, then the AC power.  Close the panel cover, and your L5100 ZWAVE is fully installed.
