Communicators
Fire Alarm Communicators
A communicator sends fire alarm signals to a central station, and there are two common reasons to buy one separately from the panel. The first is a panel with no built-in dialer that now has to be monitored. The second is a site with no panel at all, such as a sprinkler riser that only needs its waterflow and valve tamper switches reported, where a stand-alone communicator is the whole system.
The 411UDAC handles both jobs. It is a dual-line digital alarm communicator with four supervised input channels that accept normally open devices such as waterflow switches and pull stations, and it runs either stand-alone or as a slave to an existing fire panel. The 411UD offers the same four-channel dual-line approach in a compact slave format. Where copper phone lines are disappearing, the IPDACT-2UD converts a panel's dialer output to IP reporting and is listed to UL 864 for signaling over other transmission technologies under NFPA 72, with upload and download capability for remote programming. Confirm the central station accepts the reporting format and path before installing.
