The Securitron DK-26SS is a weatherproof, vandal-resistant digital keypad access control system designed for narrow-stile doors and electrically controlled locking applications. Featuring a cast stainless steel keypad with 11 EPDM rubber keys, support for 59 users, and 12/24 VAC or VDC operation, the DK-26SS provides programmable keyless entry for commercial and industrial facilities. Its remotely mounted control board, 5-amp DPDT relay, request-to-exit input, and passage and lockout modes support secure operation of compatible electric strikes, electromagnetic locks, and other access control devices.
Securitron DK-26SS Stainless Steel Digital Keypad Access Control System
The Securitron DK-26SS Digital Keypad System is a commercial-grade electronic access control solution designed for medium- to high-security applications requiring reliable, programmable keyless entry. Manufactured by Securitron, an ASSA ABLOY brand, the DK-26SS combines a weatherproof stainless steel keypad with a separately mounted control board to manage electrically operated locks on one or two doors with shared access requirements. The system supports up to 59 users with multiple programmable entry codes, allowing authorized personnel to access secured areas without mechanical keys. Its narrow-stile design accommodates mounting on door mullions and restricted-width surfaces, making it suitable for commercial entrances, industrial facilities, office buildings, warehouses, secured equipment rooms, and exterior access points. The satin stainless steel finish (US32D/630) provides a durable architectural appearance while complementing commercial door hardware.
The DK-26SS features a cast stainless steel keypad housing with 11 individually operated EPDM rubber buttons, providing true 10-digit entry rather than paired-key operation. The keypad incorporates three LED indicators, audible keystroke feedback, and a dedicated bell button to support user interaction and access status indication. Measuring 7 inches high, 1-1/2 inches wide, and 7/8 inch deep, the keypad mounts on narrow door frames and mullions where conventional access control keypads may require additional mounting space. Its fully weatherproof construction permits outdoor installation, with a keypad operating temperature range of -22 F to 158 F (-30 C to 70 C). The separate controller operates between 32 F and 158 F (0 C to 70 C) and is housed in an enclosure measuring approximately 8 inches high, 6 inches wide, and 3 inches deep. The DK-26SS operates on 12 or 24 volts AC or DC, drawing approximately 7 mA at rest and 160 mA maximum at 12 volts, or 20 mA at rest and 190 mA maximum at 24 volts.
The Securitron DK-26SS uses a two-component security architecture that separates the exterior keypad from the access control circuitry. A supplied 16-foot (4.8-meter), 12-conductor, 22 AWG cable connects the keypad to the remotely mounted CPU board, allowing the controller and lock-switching components to remain within the protected area. This configuration prevents damage to or removal of the exterior keypad from directly releasing the secured door. The controller incorporates a 5-amp double-pole, double-throw (DPDT) relay for switching compatible electric locks and supporting auxiliary functions such as alarm shunting or camera activation. An integrated request-to-exit (REX) input allows connection to compatible exit buttons, motion sensors, and other authorized release devices. Programmable operating functions include individual user codes, code disabling, passage mode for extended unlocked periods, and lockout mode for temporarily restricting keypad access. The system also supports a second compatible DK-26 keypad for applications requiring controlled entry from two locations, subject to the manufacturer's wiring requirements.
The DK-26SS is designed for integration with electromagnetic locks, electric strikes, and other electrically controlled door hardware in commercial and institutional access control systems. Its programmable keypad operation supports employee entrances, secured storage areas, industrial access points, and facilities requiring multiple authorized users without distributing physical keys. For installations requiring additional capacity, the DK-26SSXB configuration provides an expanded system supporting up to 119 users, while the DK-26WSS offers Wiegand output capability for integration with compatible external access control systems. The standard DK-26SS is a standalone keypad and controller system and does not include Wiegand communication as a standard feature. Optional accessories include the DK-CPSS stainless steel cover plate for mounting over a single-gang electrical box and compatible keypad security shields. The DK-26 Series carries documented CE approvals referencing EN 50091-1 and EN 61000-6-2 and is supported by Securitron's MagnaCare lifetime replacement, no-fault warranty. Installation requires proper power supply selection, relay wiring, controller placement, and compliance with applicable access control, fire safety, and emergency egress requirements.
