The Potter Amseco PAD200-PD Photoelectric Smoke Detector provides addressable smoke detection for commercial and institutional fire alarm systems equipped with compatible Potter Addressable Device (PAD) protocol control panels. Using photoelectric smoke sensing technology, the detector monitors airborne smoke particles and communicates its condition to the fire alarm control panel for alarm processing and system supervision. Its eggshell-white housing measures 3.93 inches (100 mm) in diameter and 1.35 inches (34 mm) high without the base, creating a low-profile appearance suitable for offices, schools, healthcare facilities, hotels, and commercial buildings. When installed on a compatible PAD100-4DB or PAD100-6DB base, the complete detector assembly measures less than 2 inches high. The detector base is purchased separately.

The PAD200-PD features a selectable smoke sensitivity range of 1.0-3.7% obscuration per foot (approximately 3.6-12% per meter), allowing detection settings to be configured through a compatible Potter fire alarm control panel. Built-in drift compensation helps maintain consistent sensitivity as environmental contamination accumulates in the sensing chamber, while the dirty detector warning identifies devices requiring cleaning or service. The detector communicates its sensitivity and operating condition digitally to the control panel, with a system polling cycle of less than five seconds. An integrated LED provides visual indication of detector activity and alarm conditions, with configurable polling indication for less conspicuous operation. The sensing chamber includes an insect screen and can be cleaned to restore performance when contamination is detected.

For electrical and system integration, the Potter PAD200-PD operates at 24 VDC with a nominal current draw of 300 A and occupies one address on a compatible signaling line circuit (SLC). Each detector is assigned a unique address from 1 through 127 using rear-mounted DIP switches, eliminating the need for a separate handheld addressing tool. The PAD200-PD supports compatible PAD100-4DB and PAD100-6DB detector bases, as well as approved Potter relay, isolator, sounder, and speaker base configurations. Its twist-lock mounting design simplifies detector installation and maintenance, while an optional locking tab helps prevent unauthorized removal. Potter specifies a maximum of 30 simultaneously illuminated detector alarm indicators per loop, although detector operation continues when that LED limit is reached. The detector's digital communication interface provides individual device identification and condition reporting within the connected fire alarm system.

The PAD200-PD operates in temperatures from 32 F to 120 F (0 C to 49 C) and relative humidity levels from 0-93% non-condensing. Its photoelectric sensing chamber is rated for open-area air velocities from 0-300 feet per minute, with final detector placement and spacing governed by the installation conditions and applicable fire alarm codes. The PAD200-PD is UL 268, 7th Edition Listed and UUKL Listed for smoke control applications, supporting its use in appropriately designed fire detection and smoke control systems. Potter provides a five-year manufacturer warranty for the detector.
