It restores nitrogen dioxide sensing in compatible monitors used for vehicle exhaust monitoring, ventilation control, and hazardous gas detection. The compact sensor measures approximately 2 2 2 cm and weighs 5 grams, with a typical sensor service life of approximately two years. Following installation, the detector requires stabilization, zero and span calibration, and a sensor-life reset to verify accurate operation.

The Macurco ND-SENSOR Replacement Nitrogen Dioxide Sensor restores gas detection capability in compatible Macurco TX-6-ND and TX-12-ND fixed nitrogen dioxide monitors. Designed as a field-replaceable electrochemical sensing element, it detects nitrogen dioxide (NO2), a hazardous gas commonly associated with diesel engine exhaust and combustion processes. The replacement sensor allows technicians to service the existing detector without replacing the complete monitoring assembly when the sensor reaches the end of its usable life or fails calibration. It is suitable for gas monitoring installations in parking garages, bus terminals, vehicle maintenance facilities, loading docks, industrial buildings, and equipment areas where nitrogen dioxide concentrations must be monitored for ventilation and personnel safety.

The ND-SENSOR uses electrochemical sensing technology to measure nitrogen dioxide concentrations through the compatible detector's electronic monitoring circuitry. When installed in a TX-6-ND or TX-12-ND, it supports the monitor's 0-20 parts per million (ppm) NO2 measurement range, with gas concentration readings displayed on the detector's integrated LED display. The complete monitoring system provides configurable ventilation and alarm thresholds, relay outputs, and a 4-20 mA analog output for connection to compatible building automation or ventilation control equipment. These functions belong to the host detector rather than the replacement sensing element. Macurco identifies a two-year service life for TX Series nitrogen dioxide sensors, with replacement or additional service evaluation required when the sensor reaches its end-of-life indication or can no longer maintain acceptable calibration.

The Macurco ND-SENSOR measures approximately 2 2 2 cm (0.79 0.79 0.79 inches) and weighs approximately 5 grams. Its compact plug-in construction allows installation into the existing sensor socket of a compatible TX Series detector. The replacement procedure requires technicians to disconnect detector power, remove the front cover, withdraw the existing sensing element, and remove the protective shorting spring from the new sensor before inserting it into the three-prong socket. After restoring power, the detector performs an approximately 60-second startup and self-test sequence. The replacement sensor must then stabilize for at least five minutes before calibration. Proper installation and handling protect the sensing element from physical damage, contamination, and electrical interference during replacement.

The ND-SENSOR requires field calibration following replacement to establish accurate nitrogen dioxide measurements and restore reliable monitoring. Macurco specifies a calibration procedure using the appropriate 5 ppm NO2 calibration gas, regulator, and calibration hood, available through compatible Macurco calibration equipment. Technicians must perform the manufacturer's zero and span calibration procedures, verify detector response, and reset the sensor-life counter after successful calibration. The ND-SENSOR is specifically intended for TX-6-ND and TX-12-ND monitors and should not be confused with the Macurco CX-ND SENSOR used in the newer CX-6 and CX-12 detector family. Although Macurco discontinued the TX-6-ND and TX-12-ND monitors effective January 1, 2025, the manufacturer continues to identify replacement sensors as available for existing TX Series installations. The ND-SENSOR is supplied as a replacement sensing component only; the complete detector, calibration gas, regulator, and installation accessories are not included.
