The IEI 212W Door-Gard is a weather-resistant, flush-mount standalone access control keypad designed for indoor and sheltered outdoor door security applications. Supporting up to 120 programmable user codes of 1-6 digits, it features a sealed membrane keypad, three LED status indicators, and nonvolatile memory. The keypad operates on 12-24VAC/DC and provides one Form C locking relay plus three programmable 50mA auxiliary outputs. Compatible with electric strikes, magnetic locks, and access control devices, the 212W installs in a standard single-gang electrical box.

IEI Linear 212W Door-Gard Weather-Resistant Access Control Keypad

The IEI 212W Door-Gard Access Control Keypad is a standalone, flush-mounted electronic keypad designed to provide convenient PIN-based entry control for residential, commercial, and light industrial facilities. Manufactured under the IEI and Linear product brands, the 212W features a weather-resistant sealed membrane keypad that helps protect its internal contacts against moisture and permits routine surface cleaning. Its compact design fits most standard single-gang electrical boxes, making it suitable for building entrances, offices, storage rooms, restricted service areas, and sheltered exterior doors. The keypad supports up to 120 individual user codes, allowing authorized personnel to operate compatible electronic locking devices without mechanical keys, proximity cards, or a separate access control controller.

The 212W incorporates nonvolatile EEPROM memory that retains programmed user credentials and operating settings when electrical power is disconnected. User codes can contain 1-6 digits, with programming performed directly from the keypad without requiring a computer or external programming device. Its output architecture includes one Form C main locking relay and three independently programmable 50mA negative-voltage auxiliary outputs. The main relay can be configured for timed activation from 1-90 seconds or maintained operation, while auxiliary outputs support separate timing and activation assignments. The optional IEI 293 auxiliary relay board converts the three transistor outputs into additional Form C relay contacts, expanding the keypad's switching capabilities for compatible access control applications.

Designed for single-door electronic access control, the IEI 212W integrates with compatible electric strikes, electromagnetic locks, and low-voltage door control equipment. Its programmable request-to-exit input allows a remote push button or approved exit control device to activate the locking relay without requiring a user code. Additional operating features include four independently programmable outputs, selectable momentary or latching activation, programmable panic output, and automatic code entry. Three front-panel LEDs provide visual operating feedback, including status indications associated with keypad activity and authorized entry. User credentials can be assigned to specific output combinations, allowing the keypad to control a door lock and compatible auxiliary equipment according to the programmed application.

The IEI Linear 212W operates from a 12-24VAC/DC low-voltage power source with automatic voltage adjustment and does not require a voltage selection jumper in the revised electronics configuration. The manufacturer specifies current consumption ranging from 8mA typical at 12VDC to 91mA with the main relay energized at 24VAC, with additional current required when the optional 293 relay board is installed. The keypad measures approximately 2.75 inches wide, 4.50 inches high, and 1.13 inches deep and operates in temperatures from -20 F to 130 F (-28 C to 54 C). For outdoor installations, the manufacturer requires a weatherproof back box, sealed wire-entry points, and drainage provisions to limit internal condensation. The 212W is intended for weather-resistant applications rather than extreme environmental exposure and is covered by a 24-month limited manufacturer warranty under the published warranty terms. Its combination of 120-user capacity, flexible relay programming, and sealed membrane construction provides a practical standalone keypad solution for compatible electronic door locking systems.
