The Fire-Lite BG-12LX is an intelligent addressable dual-action manual fire alarm pull station with push-in/pull-down activation, key-operated reset, and an integrated signaling line circuit (SLC) interface. Designed for compatible Fire-Lite addressable fire alarm control panels, it features rotary decimal address switches, an LED status indicator, and a durable red polycarbonate housing with molded operating instructions and Braille lettering. Operating at 24 VDC nominal with a maximum standby current of 375 microamps and alarm current of 5 mA, the UL 38-listed station supports surface or semi-flush mounting and meets the ADA 5-pound maximum activation-force requirement.

Fire-Lite BG-12LX Addressable Dual-Action Manual Fire Alarm Pull Station

The Fire-Lite BG-12LX is an intelligent addressable, non-coded, dual-action manual fire alarm pull station designed for compatible Fire-Lite addressable fire alarm control panels. Manufactured by Fire-Lite Alarms, a Honeywell brand, the BG-12LX provides a manually operated alarm initiating point that allows building occupants to activate the fire alarm system during an emergency. Unlike conventional manual stations that rely on a shared initiating device circuit, the BG-12LX incorporates an integrated addressable interface module that communicates with the fire alarm control panel over a two-wire signaling line circuit (SLC). This addressable design allows the control panel to identify the activated device by its programmed address and associated location description, helping emergency responders and maintenance personnel identify the source of an alarm. The BG-12LX is suitable for commercial buildings, schools, hospitals, warehouses, offices, hotels, and institutional facilities requiring individually identifiable manual fire alarm initiation points.

The BG-12LX features a two-step PUSH IN/PULL DOWN operating mechanism designed to reduce unintended activation while providing a recognizable means of initiating a fire alarm. To activate the station, the user presses the handle inward and pulls it downward, causing the internal normally open, single-pole single-throw (SPST) alarm switch to close. The handle mechanically latches in the operated position, exposing the word ACTIVATED in bright yellow lettering as a visual indication that the station has been triggered. A built-in LED, visible through the translucent handle, flashes red during normal system operation and remains steadily illuminated when the station enters its alarm indication state. Restoring the station requires a mechanical key inserted into the front lock and turned one-quarter turn counterclockwise. Opening the front cover allows the handle to return to its normal position, and closing the cover automatically restores the internal switch. Authorized technicians can open the station for inspection or address configuration without independently activating the alarm switch, simplifying routine testing and maintenance.

The Fire-Lite BG-12LX incorporates two rotary decimal address switches that allow installers to assign a unique address to the device on a compatible Fire-Lite signaling line circuit. The station is factory-set to address 00 and must be assigned a supported address before commissioning. The manufacturer documents addressing ranges of 1-159 for specified MS-9600 Series configurations, 1-99 for MS-9200UDLS panels, and 1-50 for MS-9050UD panels, with actual capacity determined by the connected control panel and its operating requirements. The integrated addressable module reports the condition of the manual switch when polled by the control panel, providing individual device identification without requiring a separately mounted addressable monitor module. The BG-12LX operates at 24 VDC nominal, with a maximum SLC voltage of 28 VDC. Its electrical specifications include a maximum standby current of 375 microamps and maximum alarm current of 5 mA, supporting integration with compatible SLC circuits when properly included in the panel's device loading calculations. Captive screw terminals accommodate field wiring up to 12 AWG, while the molded terminal numbering and integrated strip gauge assist installers with correct circuit connections.

The BG-12LX features a durable, textured red polycarbonate housing with contrasting white FIRE lettering, permanently molded operating instructions, and Braille text. Its highly visible design provides a recognizable manual activation point in protected building areas. The station supports semi-flush mounting to standard single-gang, double-gang, or 4-inch square electrical boxes, as well as surface mounting using the optional SB-10 metal backbox or SB-I/O plastic backbox. The separately available BG12TR trim ring provides a finished appearance for compatible semi-flush installations, particularly those using larger electrical boxes. The manufacturer specifies a shipping weight of approximately 9.6 ounces (272 grams) and an operating temperature range of 32 F to 120 F (0 C to 49 C), with relative humidity from 10% to 93%, non-condensing. The BG-12LX is intended for dry indoor environments and is not the outdoor-rated configuration. It conforms to ANSI/UL 38 and CAN/ULC-S528 requirements for manually actuated signaling boxes, with UL/ULC listing file S711, FM approval, and applicable California State Fire Marshal recognition documented by Fire-Lite. The operating mechanism meets the ADA 5-pound maximum activation-force requirement, while installation height and accessibility must follow applicable building codes. Unlike the conventional BG-12 hex-reset station or BG-12L key-reset station, the BG-12LX provides integrated addressable SLC communication and individual alarm identification. Combining dual-action activation, key-operated resetting, rotary addressing, status indication, and flexible mounting options, the Fire-Lite BG-12LX provides manual fire alarm initiation for compatible intelligent fire protection systems.
