The Detex ECL-230D is a rugged exit control lock designed to secure secondary exits while maintaining code-compliant emergency egress. The device combines a single-point 1-inch throw deadbolt with a battery-powered 100 dB alarm, providing both physical locking and audible notification when the door is used. Its short-bar configuration is intended for commercial, retail, industrial, and institutional doors where unauthorized exit use and inventory loss are concerns.

The ECL-230D incorporates an attack-resistant construction rated to withstand more than 2,200 lb of outside pull force. The saw-resistant deadbolt and corrosion-resistant alloy lock body provide additional resistance against forced entry and physical abuse. Locking or unlocking the deadbolt automatically arms or disarms the alarm, while resetting an activated alarm requires the designated control key.

The alarm operates from 1 included 9-volt battery, eliminating the requirement for external electrical wiring in a standard installation. The ECL-230D accepts 5-, 6-, and 7-pin standard or interchangeable-core rim cylinders, with the operating cylinder sold separately. The device is non-handed and installs on wood, hollow-metal, or aluminum doors measuring 1-3/4 to 2-1/4 inches thick. The standard ECL-230D configuration fits doors as narrow as 20 inches.

The ECL-230D includes a durable steel push plate with photoluminescent emergency-exit signage that absorbs ambient light and remains visible when lighting is reduced. Detex lists the device as UL Listed panic hardware, ANSI/BHMA Grade 3, and compliant with applicable ADA requirements. The standard configuration includes a gray finish and ECL-437K surface strike, while accessories such as vertical rod assemblies, bar guards, narrow-stile back plates, and a hardwired conversion kit provide additional installation options.
