The Adams Rite 7430-628 is a preload-capable, non-handed electric strike with a 6-7/8-inch flat faceplate, designed for Adams Rite deadlatches and compatible cylindrical locksets with 1/2-inch to 5/8-inch latchbolt projection. Part of the UltraLine 7400 Series, it features field-selectable 12/24 VDC operation, convertible fail-secure/fail-safe locking, and over 1,500 pounds of holding force in fail-secure mode. Its adjustable stainless steel keeper releases under up to 25 pounds of door preload, accommodating pressure caused by door misalignment or building airflow. Finished in 628 clear anodized aluminum, the strike is ANSI/BHMA A156.31 Grade 1 certified.

The Adams Rite 7430-628 UltraLine Electric Strike provides electronically controlled door release for commercial entrances equipped with compatible mortise deadlatches or cylindrical locksets. Manufactured by Adams Rite, an ASSA ABLOY brand, this 7400 Series electric strike features a 6-7/8-inch flat faceplate, 628 clear anodized aluminum finish, and adjustable stainless steel keeper. It is designed for Adams Rite 4500, discontinued 4700, and 4900 Series deadlatches, as well as compatible cylindrical locks with 1/2-inch to 5/8-inch latchbolt projection. The extended faceplate covers the existing strike opening when converting certain Adams Rite MS pivoted-bolt deadlock installations to deadlatch operation. Suitable for aluminum storefronts, hollow metal frames, and compatible wood applications, the 7430-628 provides electronic entry control without replacing the existing mechanical latch.

The 7430-628 operates on field-selectable 12 or 24 VDC power, drawing 440 mA at 12 VDC or 230 mA at 24 VDC. Optional 16 VDC operation requires the separately available VA7400-16VDC voltage adapter, with a rated current draw of 460 mA. Its field-convertible fail-secure/fail-safe mechanism allows the keeper to remain locked or release when electrical power is removed, depending on the selected configuration. The UltraLine design provides more than 1,500 pounds of holding force in fail-secure mode and can release electrically under up to 25 pounds of door preload. Adjustable keeper jaw inserts help compensate for pressure caused by building airflow, door warping, or minor hardware misalignment. The non-handed mechanism supports compatible left-hand and right-hand openings, while a plug-in electrical connector simplifies power connections.

The Adams Rite 7430-628 incorporates a 1-1/4-inch-wide by 6-7/8-inch-high flat faceplate with radiused corners and a clear anodized finish corresponding to ANSI/BHMA 628 (US28). Its compact strike case measures approximately 1-13/32 inches wide, 3-3/8 inches high, and 1-1/16 inches deep. The adjustable strike opening measures 5/8 inch by 1-7/16 inches, with a 1/2-inch depth, accommodating compatible deadlatch and cylindrical latchbolt geometries. The standard strike lip is designed for a 1-3/4-inch-thick door that closes flush with the jamb edge, with optional lip extension kits available for installations requiring additional clearance. The 7430 features a flat faceplate, while the related 7431 uses a radiused faceplate for selected paired aluminum stile doors. Optional monitored configurations incorporate two Form C switches for latchbolt engagement and lock status feedback; these switches are not included in the standard 7430-628.

The 7430-628 is supplied with mounting screws, mounting tabs, adhesive shims, an adjustable keeper shim pack, and 12V/24V plug-in voltage adapters. Installation requires preparing the jamb or stile according to the manufacturer's template, positioning the mounting clips, aligning the keeper with the existing latchbolt, and connecting a compatible regulated power supply. Adhesive spacers help achieve flush alignment when the jamb or stile extrusion differs from the nominal 1/8-inch mounting thickness. The UltraLine 7400 Series is UL 1034 Listed for burglary-resistant applications and outdoor use, UL 294 Listed, ULC-S319 certified, and ANSI/BHMA A156.31 Grade 1 certified. Available accessories include lip extension kits, ElectroLynx connection hardware, the VA7400-16VDC adapter, and the WDC7400 wood door cover for applicable installations. The 7430-628 is a complete electric strike assembly rather than a standalone access controller or lockset. Installers should verify latchbolt dimensions, frame preparation, selected locking mode, electrical requirements, and applicable emergency egress provisions before commissioning.
