The System Sensor SS-PHOTO Intelligent Photoelectric Smoke Detector provides addressable smoke detection for commercial and institutional fire alarm systems. Its redesigned photoelectric optical sensing chamber detects smoke generated by a wide range of combustion sources, while integrated analog communications transmit smoke density information to a compatible fire alarm control panel. Each detector features an individually programmable point address, allowing the fire alarm system to identify the location of an activated device and support targeted maintenance. Designed for use with compatible SK, LiteSpeed, and SS protocol systems, the SS-PHOTO provides reliable integration with supported addressable fire alarm equipment.

The SS-PHOTO operates on 15-32 VDC and requires approximately 200 microamps of operating current at 24 VDC, with a maximum alarm current of 2 mA and a maximum device current of 4.5 mA. Its programmable smoke sensitivity ranges from 2.86% to 5.0% obscuration per foot for open-area applications and 0.5% to 2.86% per foot for special applications, subject to compatible control panel programming. The detector incorporates dual multicolor LEDs for 360-degree status visibility, with red, green, and amber indications controlled by the fire alarm panel. It is listed to UL 268, 7th Edition, for open-area smoke detection and UL 268A for approved duct applications, supporting compliance with applicable fire protection requirements.

The plug-in detector head installs into a separately supplied compatible mounting base, including the B501-WHITE 4-inch base and B300-6 6-inch flanged base. With a listed air velocity range of 0 to 4,000 feet per minute, the detector also supports approved duct installations when used with appropriate compatible equipment. For smooth ceilings with low airflow, System Sensor recommends nominal detector spacing of 30 feet, subject to NFPA 72 and project-specific conditions.
