FS23M SERIES
Dual Failsafe Electric Bolt Locks
SDC FS23M Spacesaver bolt locks are dual failsafe: conventional failsafe locking bolts rely solely on a spring to retract the bolt, while the FS23M bolt will unlock with or without the assistance of the spring.
Large repelling magnets are located within the bolt and strike. When power is interrupted the bolt is retracted and held back by a spring, and should the spring fail, the repelling magnets eject the bolt from the strike, unlocking the door. The FS23MIV in aluminum and the FS23MIQ in dull chrome are listed by the California State Fire Marshal for locking of perimeter entrance and emergency exit doors after-hours, and they use a nylon bolt with a center magnet, a 5/8 inch throw and a 5/8 inch diameter, and a frame inner dimension of 8 x 1-1/2 x 1-5/8 inches.
The dual voltage coil draws 0.45 Amp at 24VDC or 0.9 Amp at 12VDC continuous duty, an adjustable auto relock switch is included, and the locks are UL listed for the US and Canada and UL 10C positive pressure compliant. Door position switch and bolt status switch options are offered in finishes including oil rubbed bronze, bright chrome, bright brass and black anodized, and the FS23M-5VM mortise strike is also listed.
