The Schlage 23-030 is a 6 pin Full Size Interchangeable Core (FSIC) with the Schlage logo on the face. It is the removable core that goes into any Schlage lock or housing made to accept the Schlage FSIC format. A special control key pulls the core straight out of the lock without taking the lock apart, so a door can be rekeyed in seconds by swapping in a new core. That makes FSIC the practical choice for large buildings and campuses where rekeying is frequent, such as tenant changeovers.
The core is solid brass bar stock and is offered here in three Schlage keyway families. Classic Obverse keyways such as C, E, and F are open standard pin and tumbler keyways with no duplication restrictions. Everest 29 S keyways such as the default S123 are patent protected until 2029 and add a check pin for better physical security. Legacy Everest C keyways such as C123 remain available for extending existing Everest systems.
Because Schlage FSIC shares keyway families with Schlage conventional cylinders, the 23-030 integrates into an existing Schlage key system. Classic Obverse and Everest keyways can later be upgraded to Primus high security cylinders. Choose your keyway and a 626 satin chrome, 606 satin brass, or 622 black face finish.

- What is a full size interchangeable core?
- A removable lock core. A special control key pulls the 23-030 out of the lock without taking anything apart, so you rekey a door by swapping cores instead of rebuilding the lock. Schlage recommends FSIC for large buildings and campuses where rekeying happens often.
- Will this fit my lock?
- It fits any Schlage lock or housing made for the Schlage FSIC format. That covers Schlage commercial mechanical, electrified, and electronic locks built in FSIC designs, plus FSIC deadlocks, cabinet locks, padlocks, and locking cables. It does not fit a lock made for a conventional cylinder, or a lock made for a small format (SFIC) core.
- Is the lock or housing included?
- No. The 23-030 is the core only. The lock, or the FSIC housing for a deadbolt, is ordered separately.
- Which keyway should I pick?
- Match your existing keys. If you are starting fresh, Schlage recommends Everest 29 S: S123 is the default keyway on Schlage locks and S145 is the default for new master key systems. Choose a Classic Obverse keyway such as C only when you need to match an existing open system and duplication control does not matter.
- What is the difference between C123 and C?
- They are different families. C is a Classic Obverse keyway. C123 and the other C1xx and C2xx keyways belong to the legacy Everest C family. Everest 29 S keys will operate legacy Everest C cylinders, but legacy Everest C keys will not operate an Everest 29 S cylinder.
- Can anyone copy my keys?
- Classic Obverse keys can be copied at most retail key cutting services without restriction. Everest 29 S keys are patent protected until 2029 against unauthorized manufacture and distribution. For real key control, the upgrade path is Schlage Primus.
- Can I master key these cores?
- Yes, master keying is available. Note that 6 pin Everest 29 S cylinders cannot be interkeyed with 5 or 7 pin cylinders.
- What finishes are available?
