The Gentex GHSW is a white, 24 VDC fire alarm horn/strobe with six field-selectable candela settings of 15, 30, 75, 115, 150, and 177 cd for audible and visual emergency notification. Part of the Gentex Commander 5 Series, it features selectable high/low sound output, multiple alarm tones, and universal wall or ceiling mounting. The GHSW also incorporates Super-Slide mounting technology, Checkmate voltage verification, and synchronization capabilities with the Gentex GTSM control module.

The Gentex GHSW is a 24 VDC combination horn and strobe notification appliance designed to provide audible and visual alerts in commercial and institutional fire alarm systems. Part of the Gentex Commander 5 Series, this white horn/strobe features six field-selectable strobe intensity settings of 15, 30, 75, 115, 150, and 177 candela, allowing installers to configure visual notification output according to the requirements of each protected area. Its low-profile design and universal wall or ceiling mounting configuration make it suitable for offices, schools, healthcare facilities, retail buildings, and other indoor environments requiring coordinated emergency notification.

The GHSW offers multiple field-selectable audible signaling options, including mechanical horn, 2400 Hz horn, chime, and continuous whoop tones. Installers can select continuous or temporal signaling patterns and configure high or low decibel output using integrated switches. When connected to a compatible Gentex GTSM synchronization control module, the horn/strobe supports synchronized temporal signals, including Temporal 4 operation, and allows audible notification to be silenced while the visual strobe continues flashing. The continuous whoop tone is not synchronizable through the GTSM module. These configurable signaling capabilities support different notification requirements within compatible fire alarm and emergency communication systems.

The Gentex GHSW incorporates several installation-focused features designed to simplify mounting, wiring, and system verification. Its Super-Slide mounting bracket enables installers to prewire the system and test circuit supervision before attaching the notification appliance. The patented Checkmate Instant Voltage Verification feature facilitates electrical testing and verification of voltage at the device. The unit accepts 12 to 18 AWG conductors and includes a locking mechanism that secures the appliance to its mounting bracket without exposed screws. Measuring 5.91 inches high, 5.91 inches wide, and 2.56 inches deep, the GHSW supports universal wall or ceiling mounting and can be surface-mounted using a compatible Gentex GBB indoor back box.

The Gentex GHSW Commander 5 horn/strobe is designed for integration with compatible fire alarm control panels and notification appliance circuits requiring coordinated audible and visual evacuation signaling. The series is listed to ANSI/UL 464 and ANSI/UL 1638, with applicable CAN/ULC S525 and S526 listings, and is designed for installations governed by NFPA 72 and applicable building and fire codes.
