Falcon Commercial Locks, Exit Devices and Closers

Falcon covers a commercial opening end to end: Grade 1 and Grade 2 cylindrical locks, MA series mortise locks, rim and concealed vertical rod exit devices with their trim and mullions, surface door closers, deadbolts, and the key blanks, cylinders and small format interchangeable cores that key them all. Cylindrical Locks

Cylindrical locks are listed by grade, function, trim and keying prep, which is the order a spec is written in. Grade 2 covers entry/office, storeroom, corridor, apartment entrance, passage and bedroom/bath privacy. Grade 1 adds passage/closet and asylum functions, and an electric storeroom lock is listed fail secure on 6 to 7 pins with a 3-1/2 inch rose diameter, field reversible.

Trim runs through Dane, Quantum, Avalon and Sutro levers and the Hana knob, on a standard rose or a small rose. Keying prep is the other decision: key-in-lever cylinder for a conventional system, SFIC prep less core for an interchangeable core system, or less cylinder where the cores are already on site. Finishes include satin chrome, satin stainless steel, satin brass, bright brass and flat black coated.

Mortise Locks

The MA series is the Grade 1 mortise line, listed by function: apartment corridor door, classroom, entry/office, entry/office with button lockout, dormitory, dormitory/exit, storeroom, passage/closet and sided deadlock. Each function is then listed three ways for keying, as 5-pin conventional cylinder, SFIC prep less core, or less conventional cylinder.

Trim is sold as part of the lock: Dane, Quantum, Avalon and Sutro levers on a Gala rose or a Napa escutcheon. Vacant and occupied indicators are listed for sectional trim on the MA301, MA311 and MA321 functions, displaying in green and red on the exterior. Cams, spindles for standard and 1-7/8 to 2-1/2 inch door thickness, screw packs and lever return springs are listed separately for locks already hung.

Exit Devices

Exit devices are listed as Grade 1 rim and concealed vertical rod, in wide stile and narrow stile pushpad, and by device width from 36 inch through 42 and 48 inch. Function choices are exit only, nightlatch with a pull, and nightlatch less pull trim, with hex key dogging or less dogging depending on whether the opening is fire rated.

Electrified versions cover motorized electric latch retraction with request to exit for access control integration, and EL devices are listed with and without rods for the 1690 line. Parts are listed by series, 19, 24, 25 and XX-V for the bars and 1490, 1690, 1790, 1990 and 2390 for the devices.

Exit Device Trim, Mullions and Parts

Lever trim is listed by series and function: 19 Series lever trim handed right hand reverse or left hand reverse, 25 Series lever trim in classroom function, and escutcheon entrance lever trim, in Dane and Sutro lever designs. Aluminum painted and dark bronze painted are the common finishes.

The parts side is deep, which is the point of stocking Falcon at all. Top strikes for 1990, 1490, 1690 and 2390 devices, top latch cases for 19, 24, 25 and XX-V series, top latch case sub assemblies by hand, top latch release kits, rim dogging covers, bottom rod kits, center slide sub assemblies and shim kits for rim or mortise devices are all listed as individual parts. Removable steel mullions cover openings up to 7 ft 2 in and from 9 ft 1 in to 10 ft, in key removable and prime coat versions, with mullion adapter plates.

Door Closers and Operators

Surface door closers are listed in two duties. The light to medium duty closer is size 1 to 5 with a regular arm on a push or pull side tri mount, and the heavy duty closer is size 1 to 6, listed with a regular arm on a tri mount or a heavy duty arm on a push side parallel arm mount. Covers are listed as full plastic cover or less cover, and hold open arms are sold separately. A surface mounted electromechanical door operator is listed for push side mounting where the opening has to be powered.

Deadbolts and Cylinders

Deadbolts cover single cylinder units with SFIC prep less core and a thumbturn by occupancy indicator version that shows the room status from the corridor. Drive in bolts, ANSI strike screws and ANSI dust boxes are listed for the frame side of the same install.

Cylinders are listed by housing size and cam: 1-1/8 inch mortise cylinders with the Falcon M non-deadbolt cam, 1-3/8 inch and 2 inch SFIC mortise housings with either the Falcon MA cam or a Schlage L cam, key in lever cylinders, deadbolt cylinders for the D111, D211 and D241, and 1690 Series cylinder assemblies for night latch devices.

Key Blanks and Cores

Falcon keyways are listed as blanks by keyway letter, including 6-pin E keyway nickel silver blanks and small format interchangeable core standard blanks in A and E keyways. SFIC cores are listed 6-pin, uncombinated with no keys for a keying shop, or combinated with a change and control number and two operating keys for a job that ships ready to use. Finishes run satin chrome, dark oxidized satin bronze oil rubbed and flat black coated.
